[TabZ][TWRP][PhilZ Touch][CWM] XZDualRecovery Q&A

i havent touch the microsd yet, i just got it like 5hrs ago...
Can you check /tmp/XZDualRecovery/preperation.log to see what it detected? If it's not detected as FAT32 then there will be your answer and updating to 2.6.3 will be your solution: http://www.fun-industries.nl/xda/

It has CWM Advanced 5 (based on CWM 6.0.3.3) and should be able to use exFAT formatted sdcards.

I see that this has TWRP 2.5.0.0
Could it possibly work better with 2.6.0.0? I want to try, but this mod comes with ".cpio.lzma" files and official recoveries come in ".img", I'm not sure how to proceed.
Can I convert ".img" to ".cpio.lzma"? How?

The post above yours mentions 2.6.3 and you can update to that to get TWRP 2.6 but it's just not patched for use on landscape devices. I'm silently working on a better solution but it takes time and time is in short supply unfortunately...

Well I installed it ok, got the lock screen on TWRP but got out of that thanks to an earlier post.

CWM won't backup though. It shows the wrong amount of free space and fails on the System part every time. There's about 6GB free so that's not the issue. I did try to backup to Ext SD but it wouldn't mount that.

It's on a rooted stock UK ROM and it's the 16GB Wifi model.

Any ideas?

Thanks

EDIT: Far too many issues with it....Had to delete it. Thanks for the support though ;)

Same situation here. Mine is SGP311 and looks like CWM isn't recognizing the storage: it points to a "/storage/sdcard" which contains /0 and /clockworkmod folders with only 371MB free space left and leaving /storage/sdcard0 (internal storage) and /storage/sdcard1 (external microsd) unused. Tried 2.5.1-RELEASE and BETA. Both not working.

TWRP can recognize /storage/sdcard1 (but cannot recognize /storage/sdcard0), but due to the portrait/landscape problem, it cannot be used still.

You can try XZDualRecovery 2.6.3 release or 2.7 beta

I tried one of those newer ones after the one listed on the 1st page failed. It put the tablet into a boot loop. I have to be honest and say that my first attempt I missed the bit about deleting the files and restoring the original. I went into the tablet, deleted all the files listed then re installed the 2.6 but still the same boot loop. Not really a problem to get out of, just waited until the screen went off, held Vol+ and power for a few seconds, release then hold just the power. That got the tablet running then I deleted the old files again and it reboots fine. I'm just wondering if there's something left over that's not allowing the newer version to work right.

Maybe it's just time to do another ta backup and unlock the bootloader.

Tested 2.6.3 release, cannot boot into CWM (boot loop). TWRP is bootable, but same portrait/landscape issue. Going to test 2.7 beta now...

UPDATE:
But I cannot find the 2.7 BETA...

UPDATE2:
Tested 2.6.0, 2.6.2, 2.6.3, all cannot boot into CWM.

Here you say СWM can't recognize storage, so presumably you managed to enter it somehow)

That was using 2.5.1, which I had no problem booting it, but I can never get 2.6.x to boot.

Did you do this after the 2.5.1

Delete the following files:
/system/bin/recovery.twrp.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/recovery.cwm.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/charger
/system/bin/ric
/system/bin/chargemon
/system/bin/dualrecovery.sh

Then inside /system/bin/ rename chargemon.stock to chargemon check its permissions (should be 755 or otherwise visible as -rwxr-x-r-x). Done!

or just install the later one?

That's how I did it first, then deleted the files after and tried a re install. Boot loops both times.

As I said, I'm going to backup the ta, unlock the bootloader and try a couple of others. I was hoping for a bit more input from the OP about it. They might be working on a fix for it.... you never know.

I heard about issue that v2.5.1works on .307 firmware, but 2.6.0, 2.6.3 versions don't work. But they work on the latest .244 firmware for SGP321.
