I suggest you all to install "android system infor" that are in market (free) and see how much total RAM you have in your device.
In Italy we realized that we have 190 MB of total RAM and NOT 256 as HTC say: http://www.htc.com/it/product/tattoo/specification.html
What you find?

I see that my Internal Memory is 165.12Mb, and RAM is 185Mb. It should be ROM: 512 MB, RAM: 256 MB!!! :shocked:

Chances are it is showing whats left after the system sets aside what it needs to use for system resources and whatnot, like when you format something and the actual memory is less. I doubt we have anything to worry about.

I think that if this were so, than even a htc hero should have the same problem.
we should ask in their section to check this detail not negligible.

Just my 2 cents

ROM 512 Mb is divided on /system, /data, /cache and other things
RAM: 256 Mb is divided on radio, OS and other things in autostart (like bluetooth parameters matrix)
Rest amount of RAM/ROM are visible in Android System Info and available to applications
