*HOW TO INSTALL*

*IMG* (this will wipe your android data)
1. Download zip
2. unpack zip (sometimes it contains one IMG file, sometimes some files in it) & copy to USB Drive (FAT32)
3. plug it in the tv
4. shut down the tv with remote
5. then press & hold the power button on the tv (not remote) for 5 seconds until the LED is flashing and wait for it to be installed.

Can someone tell me where the power button on the tv is for the 55C726. I checked the TV physically but do not see one.

To change to Google TV , you need to flash with R51MT05 IMG file.
Read in this thread, has many samples.....

That was one long read ... went through 112 pages and feel ready to first update to ATV and then test GTV. Before I begin ....
I've got a 55C726 from the Middle East and don't seem to get any updates.
Software: V8-R51MT02-LF1V315.020654
OS: V5.2.0 (V8-2004200-MF1V520)
Project:8559

I intend to first do the OTA 337 (Post 2107) since that would be easier and no loss of apps. - DONE
Once satisfied with the results, I'll switch to:
GTV. For this, I will flash IMG 501 (Post 1795) and then move on to OTA 508 (Post 2043 / Post 2046).

Am I right is assuming that 508 is the last update for my C726 or can I move even forward to the new thread for 2022 Models?

I am new here. Great community, was fun to read this thread and get all the tools and information!

I still managed to have a bit of a problem, so I want to ask for your help / suggestions:

- I currently live in Japan, and have a TCL TV. It was running on the V8-R51MT04-LF1V128 version. This is exactly the TV i got: Link to Product
- I was very unsatisfied and decided to give the Google TV and Android TV a chance, so i flashed my TV with various IMG of the V8-R51MT02* and V8-R51MT05* versions - that worked without a problem.
- Problem 1: My remote control that came with the TV isn't recognized anymore. Not a big problem, i cold get another one that is compatible with Google TV / Android TV (I don't like this remote anyway).
- Problem 2: The channel scan does not find any channels anymore, so I basically have a big smart monitor now, but can't watch TV

Questions:
- Is there any known way to get back to the Japanese V8-R51MT04 firmware? I can only find OTA updates, but no IMG. Does anyone have an IMG, or knows another way to get back to the japanese firmware?
- Alternatively, does it make sense to try to create an IMG myself from an OTA update? If yes, is there some information available for that?
- And if there is no way back: Does anyone have an idea how i could maybe still get the Channel scan to work?

my suggest try lower or even latest ver of firmware and see if channel scan work
if it still doesnt work take it to tcl service center and lie to them that u accidentally update it and tell them the problem hope it they accept it and flash you with official firmware

Thanks a lot feel2death! I tried a couple of firmwares, but it seems none of them is able to scan japanese channels. I contacted tcl - so far they have been hesitant to send me a japanese firmware, so let's see how this continues...

Correct, it is google TV. The bootloop also confirms it as google tv

Seemse you never update firmware.....

Do you know how to flash IMG file ?
Try with R183 IMG...

V8-R51MT05-LF1R183.020685.zip

I posted above....
for native firmware, TV model and region (Canada), must update with V(R)399......
Now you have global firmware installed....not excatly for your region.

Edit:
With R183 installed, check your TV channels....
