Hello, owner of 43C725 with R006 software version. Automatic updates never worked for me, always receive "software up to date" message since purchase (09.2021) and had to update it manualy , thanks to this forum (special regards to stasiof). Please explain, what is the difference and how to choose which software to update to : R166 (GoogleTV) or V277 (Android 11 R). Thanks in advance !

You can't upgrade from GTV to ATV with ATV OTA. So if you want V277 you need to restore with 272 IMG first. Which one is better? You should decide which is better. For someone ATV for others GTV is better. I stay on ATV. It is enough for me at the moment. The main different thing is the home screen and app management. Use google to search screenshots, reviews to find out which is simatic for you.

You need IMG file.....links you qouted is OTA zip file and no more available.

So I updated the C725 V277 firmware on my C725K, the catch up apps stopped working / disappeared but the HDR and Dolby Vision looks way better so happy with it... TCL on WhatsApp said there's meant to be an update for UK version at some point but I doubt that...
