Initial seemed ok until I went to play an ATMOS sound stream in Kodi which crashed the soundbar (Onkyo inbuilt).

After a TV reboot, I tried and repeated the issue.

Trying another program, Plex, Atmos worked.

Haven't had a chance to test more yet, but I would hold back on v718 for now if you haven't already updated.

On V715 here with a 55P8S (R851T02) and this drove me crazy trying to get my Odroid N2+ Coreelec (Kodi/Jellyfin) to work. It seems like this TV just doesn't can't handle certain Dolby streams. It wasn't just Atmos (but at this point I can't remember which... if I recall, DTS and 5.1 and 6.0 were fine). Took me freaking weeks to figure out why the TV's display would just crash... while the audio continued to play.

I fixed it by going into Kodi settings and force-reducing all audio to 2.0 stereo... might as well since I don't have a sound system. If I ever do, I'll just have to feed it directly from the N2+.

Strangely, Jellyfin android app on the TV Android works just fine. I'm guessing the TCL Android handles the reduction to 2.0 stereo sound...

Just putting this here with the hope it helps someone else.

Edit: originally stated 55P815 when it's not.

You are mistaking the culprit :)
I would recommend you to visit this link to understand the problem:

Actually I'm on a 55P8S which I had assumed was similar. Now that I look closer at various specs, it's nowhere near the 55P815. Pretty sure I'm on the right firmware since my factory firmware was V8-R851T02-LF1V634.018640 and I read this thread for days before making the leap. Consider that an 'oops' in typing. I added an edit to my previous post.

Looks like a related but different issue. That poster was getting garbled audio. My video would blank while sound continued to play. At first I assumed the HDMI cable was an issue so I upgraded to a proper 4K (or 8K maybe) cable. I still think perhaps the HDMI input is just being overloaded since reducing the sound to 2 channels probably frees up some bandwidth for the video... but I will keep this in mind.

I have a 75C815 on 722. It also jerks a bit on high speed scenes….the processor just isn’t up to it…but I can’t really complain for the price of the TV.

I have also turned off all motion/clarity settings and uninstalled a lot of the pre installed apps (see prev posts on how to do that).

It also fixed some HLG artefacts I had.

All in all i classed it as a good upgrade.
Can you guide me a bit on how to do that ; i used ADB gui to uninstall some apps but when i powered the tv down and then powered on it went through the initial configuration wizard and i found that the apps were reinstalled automatically

Have a look on page 162, that is the one I used.
I chose not to remove a couple of items that I use as well.

V722 is the firmware revision.

Normally you would go into the settings and about to see what you have, but your TV is in a boot loop right?

Earlier in this thread, 50p8m is linked to the same firmware type, so it should work.
And worse case you simply try another image from earlier in this thread :)

Try a different usb stick/drive and make sure it is formatted FAT32

If that doesn’t work, you may have a hardware fault on the TV

I had a similar Audio issue with my 43P8 and I updated it to V722 now am back at V634 as that was the last update that I got officially working on my ATV which is Android 9, I wish to update it to Android 11, however, the audio bugs needs to be fixed so no point of updating till that version is officially released.

    Another Argentinian here.
As I got tired of waiting for the OTA to appear, with my adb logcat running, and it never did ...
I thought: "why don't I edit the ota v213 url to see if it works?", and it did. :p

I have a 75c815k (uk) and have just updated to V715 android 11 software, I was previously on V645 the current official TCL European software and had spent many many hours tweaking the settings to get what I consider the best picture quality to suit my taste and eye. My son has an LG 77" c1 oled which cost him roughly 4 times more than my TCL and whilst my picture is not quite up to his with my settings I think it comes very close and thought I would share them if anyone wants to try them. I like quite a vibrant picture so have used the standard mode with the following settings for SDR ( in movie mode the same settings give a slightly softer look)
    Brightness/backlight 45,
    Contrast 90,
    Black level 40,
Dynamic contrast off, black stretch off, brightness+ on, local dimming low, gamma 0
Colour 48, tint 50, dynamic colour on, colour temp -1
Sharpness 50, digital noise and noise reduction off
Gradation clear (not on V645) low
Motion clarity on, led motion clear off, judder reduction off
Expert calibration settings untouched apart from colour space set to auto.

My Hdr settings are similar although brightness and contrast left at 100 and colour pulled back to around 46
    Dolby Vision left alone.

These settings were originally set on V645 but seem ok with V715

As with most things picture quality is subjective but these settings I believe would give a much better baseline to the out of box settings which are way overblown in my opinion.
