I've seen some discussions with mentions of 5+ hours of SOT, while I'm getting just over 3 and low battery warnings. Looking at the usage nothing stands out to me as unusual consumption, so how come some of you are getting far better?

Do you use the Facebook app? That's one of the worst apps ever made. It's a battery killer. You can use the browser and setup notifications instead. I've read of that helping. I've never used that app mostly because I don't use Facebook at all. I leave everything on with adaptive screen set to half on slider. I can have my phone off the charger for 48hrs and get close to 8hrs screen time. My usage is mostly reading news, web browsing and XDA. I don't take a lot of photos and I always have wifi access about %99 of the time. If you have low cell service or use LTE a lot your battery will drain quickly too. There are many variables though with apps and usage. Apps really are the biggest problem for most people. Facebook being on the top of that list. IMO. If I can get a full days use off the charger. That's good enough for me. The Pixel battery is the best I have used. Better than my 6P which lasted me all day as well.

I too use facebook/messenger but I still get 4-5 hours screen on time. Somethings that help, custom kernels/ root+Naptime/greenify. If you have wifi calling, turn on airplane with wifi. Turn off auto brightness/NFC/Bluetooth though I use those except NFC. I hear too if you can ditch chrome and use another browser it helps a lot, I however like having my bookmarks and all.

That's not true. I have Facebook and messenger installed on my phone and with normal usage, I can last a full day with at least 20% left

Read the op and look at the pics. This is a discussion about SOT. Not whether you get through the day or not. It looks like the OP gets through a day just fine. I'm not just making up Facebook's issues. It's well documented as has affected every version of Android/iOS and every device. Just search Facebook app battery drain online and see how much info there is. It's definitely an issue. I can get through 2 days with this phone without charging. If I used Facebook it would be one day. There is definitely a noticeable difference. But as I said, if you can get through the day just fine before you charge it. Then it's not really an issue. Unless you are away from a charger for days at a time.
