Ok i have a work around for this so you don't have to compile it in a kernel. In the OP there's a link to make a custom splash screen. Download the exe to your computer. Then get the image you want, size it correctly and drop it in the batch program. It will make a rfl image to replace your splash screen in a flashable zip. Once you flash it, you'll have your custom splash screen. NOW.. make a nandroid back up. After the nandroid backup is done, go to your computer and pull a copy of the back up. Open the backup with 7 zip and pull the boot.img. Now you have a kernel with your own custom splash screen. Use 7zip to drop your custom kernel in your ROM! Done! No Linux needed. Oh and don't forget to always check the OP for new tools and tricks!
Awesome thank you Tim, you're the man:thumbup::D:beer:

Interesting...I'm only familiar with making splash screens for HTC devices, and on those its stored in its own partition

Ya on Samsung its stored as a parafram.rlf image compiled in the kernel itself. Try it out C Nexus. Pretty cool mod/work around i came up with using the splash screen creator. :)
So I'm guessing I follow the instructions that use terminal emulator to get it on my phone and not the exe linked correct?
That looks like it only supports htc devices.
I know its a rather noob question but I've never messed with the lfs before and don't want to brick myself LOL

Edit- nevermind I forgot about hellcats splash screen changer

No. It's a exe ( windows program). You need to make the flashable zip on your pc. An updater script for android will flash on any device, which is why people have bricked on international ROMS. Ive tested this. The splash screen creator was made for Samsung devices and since Samsung packs their splash screens in their kernels universally it will replace the splash screen on any Samsung device or kernel. Make the splash screen zip on your pc. Then transfer the zip and flash it. Remember that this zip that the splash screen creator makes ONLY replaces the splash screen and modifies the current kernel youre running. So for example if you are running ktoones kernel, it will be ktoones kernel still with a different splash screen. So if you are planning on using the kernel in a ROM, flash the kernel you intend to use in the ROM first, then flash the zip you make with the splash screen creator, then make the back up and pull the kernel/boot.img. , Then drop that kernel in your ROM zip.
The zip that the splash screen creator makes only MODIFIES your existing kernel you're running. It does NOT make a new kernel, copy of your kernel or flash a kernel. It only MODIFIES. That's why if you want to include it in a a ROM you need to make a nandroid back up and pull it from the back up. Ive had problems using ADB to pull the kernel in windows. You can pull it with linux tho.

Gotcha, it just confused me seeing all the htc stuff in that thread LOL

I loved my hero when I had it, but the epic touch is pretty great. Gonna be tough to decide what's next when my upgrade comes around, the S3 the Note and the new HTC all look very enticing...

Honestly, I only got the s3 because of financial issues. There are plenty of excellent developers here, and competition between devs and teams here is high.. I personally would have gotten the NoteII had i had the money to do so at the time. Plus we need another reject over in the Note II forum. I would suggest getting the NoteII if you could afford it...:)

The note definitely looks good and with that recommendation I'll go that route, guess now I just need to be a reject:p

Thanks Shadow.. Super nice to see you here bro. Ys I'm about 2/3rds of the way done with this ROM. Had a minor surgery today and it's gonna set me back a few days but as soon as I'm out of bed, I'm back on it. I have compiled a ton of mods too.. Totally representing in the s3 forum bro.. Just wait till this beast drops. So you hear anything else about that T mobile thing? Hit me up on gtalk later when you have the chance, let's catch up some. :)
Awesome...:thumbup: I'll hit ya up on talk tomorrow after I get out of work
