I have seen this one many times on this forum and have read as many as I can. I find no solution ...
I was given a bricked Kindle Fire. I now understand that the user was trying to root the device and used TeamWin to do it. The device will power on. It displays the orange Kindle Fire, the blue Kindle fire and then goes to a blue screen with the word TEAMWIN on it. There it hangs as the screen flashes every 6 seconds or so. I should note here that the blue Kindle Fire screen develops a colored raster pattern from the top to about 1/4 the way down just before the TEAMWIN screen pops up.
The consensus seems to be that I must boot into recovery mode. I suspect that is what the blue TEAMWIN screen is about. I have tried all the button combos I can think of, it ends up at the same screen each time. I have connected it to a PC via USB cable. Windows says it cannot open it. It sees it as a Kindle but claims it cannot find the driver for the MTP USB Device. I have searched for a new driver. I have uninstalled the USB drivers on Windows and allowed it to reboot to restore them, that did not work. The Kindle and the MTP USB both have the exclamation point in a yellow triangle next to them in device manager.
OK boot linux. The same boot sequence occurs on the Kindle. Linux gives the error "Unable to mount Tate PVT 08" and "Unable to Open MTP Device" lsusb shows the device as Lab 126 Inc, which is Amazon.
I have not built the gizmo to replace the factory cable. I can do that if you think it might help. I also understand that it may be time to move this to the recycle pile. The things are cheap enough to buy. But it is a good problem and I am retired and bored. Keeping it polite, suggestions?
Device: Kindle Fire, I think it is a 2012 2nd Generation
Computer OS: Windows 7 Professional Ubuntu 16.04
