How do I downgrade from Lollipop?

So I remember my excitement when I saw that my beloved Tegra Note 7 showed me that the 5.1 OTA is available. Needless to say, the excitement died down after a week or so of using the tablet. The problem that bothers me the most is battery drain. In just about 10 hours in standby mode with WiFi off, my battery reduced 13%. I take it off the charger at 100%, WiFi on, in standby mode and viola, in 10 minutes, 3-4% battery drain with no activity at all. Now I hardly get more than 2-3 hours of activity out of it but when I was using Kitkat, oh boy. 2 days in standby with WiFi off and 1-2% battery loss.....Amazing. Also, I miss the power control so much <3 (I really don't think the Activity Launcher way to get the SHIELD Power Control Menu works at all)

Now I really want to downgrade it to Kitkat but have absolutely no clue how to do so. I'm not rooted currently and I've tried searching in the forum for existing topics for but couldn't find any. It'd be great if someone wrote a 'For Dummies' guide as to how to downgrade from Lollipop on an unrooted device in the simplest way possible.

Yeah Kitkat is better than Lollipop at the moment. You need to get a custom recovery on it and flash one of the stock ROMs. You don't actually need to root Android for any of this.

The "Super Tool" will get the custom recovery on it (CWM or TWRP). Note that you will lose all data on the tablet when you unlock the bootloader. Also, the NV USB drivers for Windows are unsigned and so you will probably need to boot Windows into a mode that disables the driver signing check (Win8/10).

Then you can put one of these stock ROMs on a SD card and flash them within that recovery. It's very easy to go between ROMs this way.

And of course be warned that there is always the possibility that something could go horribly wrong and kill your tablet. :D It went smoothly enough for me though.

Back to KitKat! (+Easy guide for others!)

Thanks a lot for the help swaaye! :D

I'm finally back on 4.4.2 and damn, the amazing standby times are back. I'm not so sure how I feel about the screen on time as I was expecting more since I've kinda forgotten how KitKat was originally. Anyway, a run time of 1 Day and 12 hours with WiFi on 75% of the time and a screen on time of 2.5 hours is miles miles miiiiiiiiles ahead of Lollipop! (22% Battery remaining). I'm back to the Antutu benchmark of 35K vs Lollipop's 40K/40K+ I'm mad for theoretical performance so I kinda miss that having those beautiful numbers flash on my screen. Regardless, I'll take much much better battery life over those 'numbers' any day of the week. Enough time wasting, lets get on with the guide! (I'm sure this has been posted before but I'll try to cover 1-2 of the issues that I encountered that others might too)

STEP 1 - Download Nvidia Tegra Note 7 Super Tool 2.5.zip (Android 4.4.2) I downloaded version 3.0 but that only restored to Stock 5.1. I'm not sure about the versions between 2.5-3.0 as I randomly downloaded 2.5 and it worked so I didn't bother checking the others for Android versions/software changes.

STEP 2 - Go to Device Manager -> Go into the properties options of the Tegra Note (Right Click) -> Hardware -> Properties -> Hardware -> Driver -> Update Driver -> Locate Drivers Manually -> Locate the folder MicrosoftWindows_NvidiaUSBDrivers_Rel20131017 in the extracted folder of the downloaded Super Tool 2.5 -> Include SubFolders and viola! The software should now be installed. [I’M NOT ENTIRELY SURE IF OPTION 1 IN THE SUPER TOOL– ADB & FASTBOOT DRIVER INSTALL DOES THE SAME THING SINCE I INSTALLED MY DRIVERS MANUALLY. ALTHOUGH, I THINK IT SHOULD DO STEP 2 BY ITSELF]

STEP 3 - Just unlock your bootloader and restore to 4.4.2 with the help of this video (youtube. c o m /watch?v=oAp-P-yUSaA)

P.S. - Thanks a lot for the amazing work to RootJunky and all others involved! :D
