Telegram notifications gone since Oreo

Was wondering if this is a bug, Telegram is whitelisted , don't get telegram notifications unless I launch the telegram app. Same with wifes phone also since Oreo.

I use telegram x and it works ok. Not sure if it helps

When I reinstalled telegram, now works. Some apps act funny on oreo. Think a lot of them haven't updated apps to work with Oreo. Half my apps won't work with edge lighting sense oreo update.

I installed Telegram X and that app was keeping the phone active and preventing it from sleeping according to Gsam.

Uninstalled it.

simple solution

hi

i purchased a chinese android 8.1. the telegram notification is not working well. even though I already set inside telegram, setting for keep alive service on, and background connection on. plus, i also already set the baterry optimization for telegram as: allow background running.

but everyting NOT working. Telegram can work for about a couple of minutes, after that it does not work. no notifcation.

I tried telegram X, same problem.

BUT......

surprisingly i found a trick...

Try this setting.. it will make telegram work well in android 8.1 .

inside telegram:
- set the keepalive service as OFF
- set the background connection as OFF

in bateray optimization for telegram:
- set Allow Background Running

But remember: Please do not exit / kill telegram. So after the you read message in telegram, just push home button. This will make sure Telegram will keep running in background.

I have tried this trick and works fine.

I don't follow the part about battery optimization for Telegram. If I go to maintenance and battery then? Thanks
My Telegram is currently the only app that is Unmonitored for battery usage. But notifications are still hit or miss for me.
