To be blunt, the bulk of the 8 million members of this site shouldn't be rooting anyway. But that's another discussion for another time.
What people decide to do is nobodies business. Including yours or Bobby's. You started off as a rookie just as much as that bulk of 8 million members. You and your buddy are not above anybody.

Ok let's drop this. It never ends well. No reason to criticize what anyone thinks if there is no benefit to the community.

To be blunt the majority of the users here have had full control over their PC's for years. They know the disadvantages of root. They've (including us) have accidently broke their windows and Linux builds before Android was even thought of.

Let's not act supperior. There is only one way to learn and that is to do.

This statement is demonstrably false. Go to any device forum on this site other than a Nexus or Pixel, take a look at various development threads and see the multitude of comments about how X or Y isn't working and pleading for a fix. A user on this site that has had "full control over their PCs for years" would already know how to generate a log for the developer to use in troubleshooting. They wouldn't need to have their friggin' hand held over something that is supposed to be basic knowledge on this site.

I don't have to act superior. They need to smarten up and start playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

For all of you who are supposed to be "Senior Members" you sound like a bunch of whiney little babies bickering back and forth. All of you need to grow up!

This is a community that is supposed to help each other not be little people for lack of knowledge. It is very simple if you mess something up and can't get it fixed yeah feel bad for them but everyone here knows the risk and if you don't then you shouldn't be here.

Yeah I bought a VZW Pixel 2 XL in hopes someone with more knowledge than me may find a way to achieve root. Maybe I was wrong for believing that but guess what it is me that feels the pain of my own choice no one else.

You're right...no one should blame you for the childlike hope you innocently reposed in others.

Negativity springs from the naive belief that lecturing others on how they should think or write is the grownup thing to do.

I'd avoid the latter and treasure the former.

Instead of following thread and providing solutions, you fight for what again? perhaps create a whatsapp group and "fight" there? people here look for solutions, instead i see situation where i need to prepare myself a popcorn !

Indeed, popcorn and a lager.

It's five o'clock somewhere.

*yawn* still no news on unlocked bootloader for pixel 2 xl? I accidentally bought one only to find out OEM unlocked is disabled (and buyer: VRZ from some imeichecker) when I was about to flash a custom ROM. So so sad....

For anyone who had success using my method- if you flash a bootloader update using the ?temporary? bootloader permissions it's no longer temporary, but I'm not a senior member and you all just want to bicker, your lost cause attitudes is why you're getting lost cause results HAPPY FLASHING!

<Update: I forgot to reiterate, I used download mode to switch the network mode to RUIM using cdma tool, if that's too hard I can help you, unless you were here talking down on people who "shouldn't be modding in the first place" because everyone starts somewhere, ?but nobody deserves help?>

I think you might need to re post or at least re write your method as it has gotten lost in the bickering back and forth.
I'm not actually sure of anyone having success with your method. But I am willing to try again. Also, I'll have to look back but I don't think you outlined the bootloader steps and the cdma tool instructions as mentioned here

Great idea, I would suggest a separate thread. One that focuses on your method and leaves behind the mess of this thread.
