Welp, my lines (note, plural) will be terminated on the 10th. I called today to figure out why my phone line (other is an Overdrive) and they told me it's because I was "accessing torrent sites."

WTF?? Be warned, they are monitoring and recording your browsing history. You have no privacy on Sprints networks....

EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18996717&postcount=77

Now they're charging me ETF and claiming my line was not going to be terminated.

You have no privacy on any ISP when it comes to torrenting. If you're pirating ****, any ISP will try to shut you down.

Wow.

BTW if you don't mind my asking, why not Torrent via the Overdrive? & Just do everything else via the EVO?

You've must have been really testing your bandwidth to have been terminated that way.

Such bold assumptions there...torrenting does not mean pirating  Not to mention, they said nothing about torrenting, just that I was "Visiting torrent sites, and that's not allowed in my contract."

Wow.

That's the thing. I don't use my phone for that crap, just my overdrive. That's why when they sent the notice, I thought nothing of it. I actually continued to overuse the overdrive to get out of it without paying early termination...but to cancel my phone too, has me livid...

GOOD!!!!! One less bandwith hog on an already stressed network.

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

I'm also getting fed up with Sprint's shady tactics lately. Its getting to a point where I'm actually considering jumping ship to the EVIL Big Red.
3g coverage in my area is horrendous. On top of that the 'premium data' fees on 3 lines.....(believe me there is nothing premium about my data coverage). Where is our promised 4g rollout?

I did two months ago. Have never looked back. Real 4G, everywhere. No more high blood pressure searching for a decent speed.

basically the guy was abusing his services and got caught.. he's upset because sprint is kicking him out of our elite club altogether rather than giving him a slap on the wrist.

By torrenting means your roaming a lot..i used to work for sprint and according to policy the only two times when sprint is going to cancel your lines are either if you're domestic or international roaming or fraud issues....

Sorry to be so blunt, but that's terribly incorrect. 'Torrenting,' is when you download using a peer-to-peer network. Typically this is for nefarious reasons like stealing software, music, and movies. People tend to download at maximum speed continously. I reckon you could pull in a TB in a month over 3G. 4G, all bets are off.

Good; get a DSL line cheap-ass.

I think the OP is full of it - it's his second thread bashing Sprint with no proof whatsoever.

This would make a good Verizon or AT&T commercial where they spoof the Sprint commercial that shows the Sprint phone breaking through the limit barrier on a usage graph while the other phones get stuck or are slowed down. In this commercial you could have two guys with shotguns behind the graph watching a half dozen Sprint phones climb the graph. One guy has "too much roaming" written on his tee shirt and the other has "websites we don't like" on his tee shirt. Then the first guy yells "TOO MUCH ROAMING OVER HERE" and blows away one of the phones. The other yells "UNAUTHORIZED WEB SITE OVER HERE" and blows yet another one away. Etc.

    :D

Jesus. Most of you are such idiots, it's pathetic, quit trying to troll each other, you all come off sounding uneducated.

    Translated:

I didn't read a damn thing and signed a contract without reading the fine print. Now I realize that I signed a contract without reading the fine print, I'm gonna *****, moan, and complain about how I'm being treated wrong instead of accepting responsibility for my actions.

You agreed to it, stop the 'the man is putting me down' bull#%*... Suck it up.

People tethering without paying, bandwidth hogs, etc are the minority that screw it up for the majority.

Don't even get me started on the users who tether without paying for it..You DO realize that tethering and not paying for it is actually THEFT right? You can marginalize it all you want. Fact is, it's a service that has a fee for, that you are using without paying that fee. It's called 'theft of service', just like stealing cable.. and is a felony in a lot of states.

Edit: Holy crap, I realized I've been here for 5 years and this is my first post.. WOOT!

So why don't you go yell at all the devs that worked so hard to unlock the hotspot on so many different devices? Quit acting so high and mighty, like you never stole anything.

---------- Post added at 04:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:02 AM ----------

OP here is an idea ... if you are getting notices that you are using too much data or you are " visiting " torrent sites ..maybe you should have quit after you got the first warning.

On the other hand if you were being careful about how and what torrents you were grabbing you would not have had any issues.

    OP...

Here is a question that I respectfully request an answer for.
For a torrent site to WORK and WORK WELL ... for every user, it is best to "SEED" back to the network, were you doing this ? Or were you just " LEACHING " ?
WTH does him seeding have to do with anything discussed here? Nothing, absolutely nothing, this is supposed to be a helpful community, not a place where you try to find a reason to be mean to someone. Is everyone on XDA 12? Seriously, you kids are ruining this site. If you aren't kids, than grow the hell up.

No one here gives sprint any credit.
