For some reason, Firefox is working just fine. Never got a notice it was checking my tethering account with ATT, and I did not change my APN settings. I plugged in my phone immediately after running system task killer, killed as many programs as I could, and then docked it. Wifi still off, memory at 46%. Maybe I inadvertantly killed an app used to run a tether check somehow. Anyway, its a nice surprise.
EDIT: NEVERMIND, apparently wifi was running on the phone after all, but didn't show on wireless settings on the laptop status bar.
