GOT IT FINALLY

First of all i uninstalled MyWi but im sure this would have worked with it. I only uninstalled it because i like how tether me enables native tethering.

I installed Tetherme Cracked version on iphone 4.. once done reset phone

In order to get them paired but not connected( theres a difference)
make sure your Xoom's Bluetooth is on
turn on bluetooth tethering under Tethering and portable hotspot on your Xoom
make sure your iphone and xoom are discoverable
find your iphone on you xoom and click it
you should get a message on both of your devices to pair hit Okay

then you will see your iphone is paired but not connected
go back and unselect bluetooth tethering under tethering and portable hotspot
mine connected automatically after that and tethering was a go

Let me know if it works for you

Grr, this is soo frustrating for me...

It did not work for me at all... and i followed your steps exactly. I'm still using miwi though, i payed 20 bucks for it so it should be the best.

I've tryed it paired but not connected, I've tried it Connected, I tried it doing your method of turning tethering on then off, i've tried it by hitting the wrench next to my iphone and turning the tethering on in there. None of that works.

If the devices are paired but not connected it means the bluetooth logo on the Xoom is suppose to be grey right?

If anyone has any idea what i'm doing wrong please help.

I followed both these steps, and the previous steps posted, and i'm not getting it to work.

Iphone 3gs with Paid version of Miwi.

i finally got mine working again. it truly is a pain in the ass. i followed my own steps and it did not work. i had to keep doing it over and over again and finally got it. So this really cant be considered a solution since it does not work the same every time. i'll keep working at it to see if i can find a set of instructions that works the same every time. I was able to do a speed test hit 245kbps down and 200kbps up VS. verizons 3G 1894kbps down and 1040kbps up. and it has stayed connected this time even when both devices have gone to sleep a few times. i really don't see this as a viable option since it is so slow.

I would advise paying for the software, its the only way that we as users are able to get such great software from the Android and Jailbreak community

And this worked perfect for me, i am now able to connect with MyWi over bluetooth.
I totally agree with you, I only used the cracked version because i wanted to make sure it worked before i purchased. but i wasn't to happy with the results so i wont be using it.

I just went to Best Buy to test this out, and I was able to tether my iPhone 4 to the Xoom using MyWi while the Xoom was in Airplane mode.

Update: This was done using an iPhone4 - I have no idea if this will actually work with an iPhone 3/3GS

Start with devices "paired and not connected"
- see the previous posts about getting to this point. It's a PITA and some times requires restarting each device to get them paired. Once paired you won't have to repeat this part.

Iphone :

Turn off any bluetooth headset.
MyWI:
Turn on Bluetooth Tethering (laptop)

Rooted Xoom:

Settings/Wireless & Networks

Bluetooth off

Settings/Wireless & Networks/Tethering & Portable Hotspot

Bluetooth Tethering ON (this will turn on bluetooth)

Settings/Wireless & Networks/Bluetooth Settings

Tap the bluetooth name of your iPhone ONCE
- before you tap it it should say "paired but not connected"
- a few seconds (10 to 15) after you tap your iPhone will chime.
- And a square blue icon with the bluetooth symbol inside will show up next to the regular BT icon

Note: on my xoom if I look at tethering settings it says I am not tethered - but the icon is present and it works.

In fact I sent this post while tethered.

Sent from my Xoom using XDA App

I will try this, but my xoom is not rooted.

im using an iphone4 jailbroken with Mywi 3g and my xoom doesn't seem to see the wifi network that it creates. My only conclusion is that the xoom doesnt see ad hoc networks. can anyone confirm this.

P.s. i cant get Mywi 3g bluetooth tethering working either
Android does not see adhoc networks by default.

Im not using a registered version of MyWi. I dont want to buy it if its not going to work. I don't think this is an issue, since i cant even get the xoom and iphone4 to pair

i have set up laptop tether in MyWi

My main issue is that my iphone does not see the xoom in bluetooth settings.
My Xoom sees my iphone and when i hit pair, it cycles through but doesn't pair with it. i have both set to be discoverable.

any suggestions
I'm using my wi on my iphone 3gs. Bluetooth tethering works flawlessly and has been amazing. You must have the newest and a registered copy of mywi for it to work. If you follow the instructions above, it should work. I used it many times with no problem.

You're saying the native iOS 4.3 bluetooth tethering works with your xoom? How's the speed and reliability?

yes it does... Works Really Good..... IOS 4.3 comes with builtin Router.... Wireless/BT/USB simultaneously.......

I used more that one system on wifi plus xoom bluetooth and wifi all at the same time.... WORKS!!!!:cool:

See Screen Shots Both Wifi & BT Tether.....:D:D:D:D

Sorry if this has already been answered but...

I think I remember reading somewhere that latest Ios 4.3 update creates an Infrastructure wireless network instead of Ad Hoc.

Awesome. Everywhere I looked all I saw was how MiWi acts like adhoc which Android doesnt like and that BT (again MiWi) is shaky and unreliabe. No one said anything about the native hotspot.

Since AT&T is dropping the hammer on unauthorized tethering, it's good to know the legit solution works. I just wanted to make sure it would before I upgraded my plan.

lol I'm not on AT&T, I'm on Digicel in the caribbean.... but it works once you have data plan... make sure its unlimited plan unless you will not like your bill at the end of the month.....
