Not my experience... Cannot remember having a freeze or random reboot on this tablet. But I hear you! Sounds as if you got a lemon (or two!).
Are you on the .29 firmware? The latest update? That took care of the battery drain...
In your shoes I would factory reset it, manually flash the latest firmware and if it still does it - back it goes!

I also have this intermittent problem where it won't charge until I use a friends tf700 charger (my cable). Once I plug the other one in, mine starts working again.

I'm on the latest firmware and it's an identical issue to my last one. I think I'll send this one back to Asus instead of the shop because they'll just keep giving me the same batch. (2014.01)

Got some used TF701T after having a TF300T (still nice but only 1G ram) and a TF700T (far too slow). I have the keyboard dock disconnecting issue as well. I have fixed the wobbling issue myself by installing some small felt spacers like I also did on the TF300T. The mount is quite good now. I can't reproduce the dock disconnect by multiple opening closings, but over night staying untouched, the dock is sometimes disconnected the next day. Reboot doesn't solve it, only remounting the dock makes it work again. Any idea what can be fixed about that? I guess Asus will not offer any service or warranty anymore in the year 2017, do they?
Can I fix that by cleaning the mount contacts? Or is the connection issue inside about the ribbon connectors?

One other issue I see, is the speaker is very quiet and distorting, sounds like it is broken. Has anyone seen that?

I do not know of anyone who was able to fix the disconnect issue. Including yours truly with 3 different docks.....

I had the broken speaker for about a year and then flashed Katshmallow and everything is fine again. Happened after flashing an experimental Philz recovery.
Both of which, flashing the recovery and flashing a custom rom, should not have anything to do with the speakers.....
And then - your speakers could just be shot....

So that means you can't see any reason why flashing Katshmallow fixed the speaker and it is supposed to be fixed just accidentally? Because I just unlocked the device and flashed Kang TWRP and latest Katkiss. I can't understand why an internal speaker could be shot with no visible damage on the device, but I did not open yet to check the speaker.

Me neither!! :silly:
It does not make sense at all, but right after flashing that Philz recovery the speaker went south. Horrible, horrible to listen to. I reflashed TWRP and the latest CROMi-X and lived with it until Tim released katKiss. Flashing the rom - or maybe the prep for it - brought the speaker back to life. Makes no sense at all.:confused:
But speakers, like any component, do break. Had that happen on a Nexus 5x just recently.
