Loose bezel on the left side

I have a loose bezel on the left side of the tablet, right where the audio jack is. So it makes a clicking noise.

Who also has this problem. Seems to be a common thing for the transformer line.

I think I'm going a different way with it. So I think I'm going to hang on to it for a while as I really love the tablet/dock/features and it works great as a vdi box and such. When it's docked I only really have disconnect issues when I open or close it and it's a a quick disconnect. the issue is more pronounced when the cable is plugged into my PC from the tablet itself undocked as a tap will cause a disconnect. So when I think of my use cases, neither of these things are really going to cause me any headache during use and I probably won't notice since when it's docked it's not like I'm swinging it open and closed a bunch while using it and when it's hooked to my pc it's usually because I'm copying something to it so I also won't be moving it around :). I am worried about what a loose connector might do tothe tablet electrically over time like burn out the internel storage or cause corruption of the os.

With that said does anyone know what the warranty period is? As I was saying I bought this thing a couple of weeks ago from taiwan and the writing for the warranty card isin chinese or taiwanese or something :)

Thanks.
I think it's the standard one year, but I'm not sure if Asus USA will honor warranty for products from another region. Also, you say you're ok with these defects. But think about it, these are BRAND NEW products which have manufacturing defects, not defects due to prolonged use/stress. I think it's especially terrible that it's the data/charge connector that is defective. If it's already losing connection when it's new, who knows when the connector will stop working. When that happens, you won't even be able to charge the tablet, turning it into a very expensive coaster....

I agree, if these things are defective right out of the box they are not going to get better over time, only worse. This is not a software problem that can be fixed even by the fantastic developers here on XDA, it is a hardware defect, the only "fix" is for Asus to recall and replace the main boards or perhaps return to the connector from previous models and we'll have to wait and see if they're going to do that, or even acknowledge it. i.e "you're holding it wrong." If we as consumers just accept poorly produced products as "good enough" it only encourages them to keep producing them, I suspect if Asus were flooded with a mass of returned TF701's, and the accompanied pad press, they might be quicker to address the problem.

Sadly after immediate replacement of my first TF701 with a new one the dock connecting problems returned on this second TF701.
The company who sold me the tablet and dock here in Holland was informed and I again are obligated for an immediate replacement but........

They put all delivery here in Holland on hold because of this connection problem!!!

So Asus over here is actually now dealing with this problem because, as I already suspected, this is a problem that will spread very quickly over the already delivered devices.
Because this is not an isolated issue where an eventual repair would correct the problem I am obligated to get a replacement as soon as Asus here figured out how to solve the problems with the tablet - dock connection.
So anyone somewhere else should refer to Asus in The Netherlands for more info but I think Asus worldwide will know about this problem for sure now also. :crying:

I have read quite a few posts where users not only had the intermittent dock disconnect problem, but the tablet- PC connection had the same problem with the slightest wiggle of the cable. That would indicate it's the port.

I had the same problem with both of the TF701's that I tried, it was the internal port on the tablet, the slightest movement of the connector and they would disconnect from the computer or dock - and sometimes reboot as well. Since the new dock has a rather loose fit and easily wobbles (something my TF700 does not do at all) it would disconnect nearly every time I'd touch the screen - not real useful in a touch screen device. I returned them both and are waiting for Asus to fix this issue as the tF701 is all but useless as they are. I am astonished that this obvious and widely reported defect didn't show up in product testing, nor did any of the reviewers note it in their review units, makes me wonder if it isn't a QC problem at the factory???

Tablet won't charge

I don't have a dock so I can't speak to that connectivity issue. I did connect the tablet to my computer via the USB cable and had no issues when wiggling or moving the cable and both ends of the connection were firm and tight. However, my tablet did stop charging yesterday and I don't think it was the cable. I don't know if the dock connectivity problem and my non-charging issue are related but I would say there is definitely some kind of issue with the connector on the TF701. Luckily I am still well within my 30-day return window with Amazon, so a replacement should be on its way soon. Hopefully they get this issue addressed sooner rather than later or I may have to spend my hard-earned $$ on a Kindle or Samsung Note or Tab. I have the Galaxy S4 phone and have had zero issues with it. I can't say the same for my experiences with Asus (horrible lag and screen sensitivity issues in the TF700).

They phoned me 1 hour ago that the delivery will continue next week.
Don't know if the problem is solved then (maybe new batch???).
Contacted them to ask about the delivery stop. They claim to not have a stop and enough stock to deliver. I asked about technical topics and they know of none. At least strange to me.

I am not using an SD card yet, but noticed nothing of the technical topics others have noticed. And I just compare it with my TF700T and love it even more every time I had to go back to my TF700, it is just such a speed difference.

I spoke to them last monday twice. Second caller had to ask first to confirm it, but although he said it was on stock all their shops get new deliveries only from next monday because of the problems he said. End of story.

I'm definitely not getting the TF701T until this issue is fixed. eBuyer.com have really messed me around - tried to charge me before stock was in - I queried it with them, confirmed had no stock and then they cancelled my order with no explanation. They have apologised to me today but too late - they lost a sale. So I'm going to wait a few weeks to see what Asus do.

In the mean time if I can find a buyer for my Surface Pro I will be picking up a Trio.

Definitely understand You, would probably do the same if I did not have it yet. Really glad I do not have any issues (knock on wood).
Pity that this also means Cromi isn't gonna be soon for this baby :) On the other hand, there is such a big difference, I am currently wishing for simple root only, no need for any custom rom, it just does its thing.

I've been reading mixed reviews on the tab, some good and some bad... could be that quality checks are inconstant.

Amazon has set the release of the dock for 11/17, could be that Asus is fixing up the issue that some have reported on here and hopefully this is the case. I'll a few months for the "bad" build and bugs to be sorted out before getting it.

It's awesome that a root method and now CWM recovery is out

I'm trying to figure out if I have a connector problem by connecting to my PC but I won't install the drivers. I didn't think I needed a new driver since I can connect my TF700. Is there a new driver?
