I have all updates blocked until they possibly do an IMEI ban. I honestly feel this has less to do with a safety precaution now. Now just imagine all of us who have the phone and haven't had any problem keeping the phone for a full year with no problems. What will the other millions of Supporters feel who returned their phone for safety reasons? They would feel pissed off. I know I would be pissed off to see someone still using a phone that had zero overheating issues and nothing was done to them. I'm sure safety does play a small role, but it's more so not pissing off millions who had a phone that wasn't effected.

If I do give mines up I planned on waiting until the S8 comes out. Even though I hate Galaxy S devices. They're like the test mules for Samsung. Would rather have a Note.

Ooooh, I see whats doing now. "Safety" and Brand sure but there is a Money motivation for Samsung as well.
Its called get those Note 7's back at all cost so we could HARVEST THEM FOR PARTS and re coupe some losses!!

This 2017 $1000 Luxury Phone wears our beloved Note 7 screen well, yes?

I have package disabler working currently and have 100% battery. I noticed that Verizon is doing this update on Jan. 5th. I'm on vacation until then so couldn't trade in even if I wanted to.

Should I expect this update to make it through my wall? Anything I can do to prepare?

I'm rather happy to hold out on the trade in until a phone comes out that is an upgrade. I bought this phone and gave away my note 5, and they want to give me a note 5 and keep my money?! I think not.

I'd take a Xiomi Mi Mix but I don't think I can get it to work on Verizon...

The Nerf bat has still missed. I am seriously starting to think I may be able to keep my phone indefinitely. Charged to 100% earlier this afternoon without a hitch.
Are you on the international version of the Note 7 in Canada? I'm thinking I too might have gotten lucky with the bricking and crippling. I don't want to jinx it though (knock on wood).
