How does it compare with M9?
I mean the M9 also can get really hot specially in hot summer days

The problem is not that G4 gets too hot. it's that LG was too skeptical about S808 that made the phone unusable (in some instances) by forcing it to shut down.So charging the phone whilst using Google maps and taking a call at the same time craps out the G4. I had a reboot and continuous temp warnings, not really impressed, my N6 got hot but nothing like the G4.

40-44?? i get 22-29, depends on how long it been idle / standby & how cold / hot my room is, but yea, never over 34 in standbyI've noticed that phone is getting hot when charging even if the phone is in standby. I'm getting around 40-44c.
Sorry. Just realized I never posted an update. After receiving the replacement phone, the problem of constant, extreme overheating of the top half of screen has gone away.I too have had issues with the device getting very hot on the top half of the screen. Tried a couple of factory resets but it didn't help. Even reset one more time and kept it stock after a few hours same problem. Took it to the AT&T store and of course it was behaving fine. Luckily the rep knew me and accepted I knew what I was talking about. Swapping mine for one first thing this morning when their new shipment comes in. Will update if issue persists or not.
Wish I would have done it 3 days ago. Might have been snagged another battery and leather case lol.

My G4 would overheat when taking anything longer than 1 minute of 4K video, it would give me the warning that the phone was going to be shut down due to temperature, but I didn't take much video, so I thought nothing of it. Then yesterday the phone was extremely hot (top half, front and back) using only GPS navigation and playing music so I put it in front of the AC vent which cooled it down a little, then it rebooted on its own. Once it came up it was stuck in a boot loop showing the LG logo and then blank screen and back to LG logo. I tried the factory reset, but the phone flashes "Secure Boot Error 1003" at the top left of the screen when trying to flash to defaults.Sorry. Just realized I never posted an update. Phone stills gets a little warm sometimes but no worse or more often than any other phone I've owned.
Dear alangt,FIXED!!!!! I just want to share my experience with my H818P regarding heat. I was almost buying a new phone after suffering many consecutive days with the famous boot loop, which drove me crazy, but then I decided to take a final different action. I downgraded Android 6.0 to 5.0 just to root it (unfortunately there's no root for marshmallow for H818P - dual sim) and used SETCPU app to ###CHANGE THE GOVERNOR### based on temperature. So, when the CPU temp is below 40C, I've set to standard interactive governor. Between 40C and 50C, I set to ondemand and above 50C, I set to powersave. One week without boots, and more than that, one week without heat problems.

I took it to T-Mobile and they are sending me a new phone today, I hope it was just that hardware, but luckily we have a removable SD card in the G4 and my photos are all there (and in the cloud).

Dear alangt,
My phone LG H818P is overheating and draining battery. it is draining in standby as well. It is giving 12 to 14 hrs backup with some voice calls. I downgraded to Lollipop but could get the same performance. I am not facing power off due to high temperture nor reboots issues. Please suggest me should i go with the same procedure as you did to fix this.
Heating isn't a problem for battery drain, butWhat about battery drain? Is heating reason of battery drain? Should i root it and install a custom rom?
