The LG G6's release is exciting for our Cameras

Hello XDA!
Yesterday, the LG G6 was released. It seems to be a pretty good phone with a lot of emphasis on the Camera. However, when you start looking at the spec sheet you are disappointed. Not only is there just 4GB of RAM,but also the camera sensor is an IMX 258.
Seems familiar? Well, it should be as that is the same sensor that the Mi4C uses!!! Well, at least some of them since some models use a Samsung sensor. However, for us, the lucky people that have that sensor, this could mean Camera2 API support if some smart developer here on XDA manages to port it from the G6! I seriously can't wait for us to get our hands on its ROM.
Hope to get some discussion started in this thread and do some further research.

Might be a different sensor even though it says 258, it surely has different lenses anyway. It's not really that good for us.

I don't think that we will ever see camera2 api on our device. The only chance is a porting from Miui (apparently present in the nougat version), but as I know it's nearly impossible since we don't have the proper sources. But we can always dream

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Thanks for letting me know that was a thing! I'm so excited! As soon as I get my Mi4c back I'll try enabling it! Has anyone tried out the manual shutter speed? Up to how many seconds can it go?

I was also shocked the G6 had the same sensor. Couldn't believe it.

Same 0.6s exposure with camera2api enable , images are flipped 180°
