Did anyone watch the first day of Google I/O? I watched last night on YouTube. They had a session where they talked about developers for apps. They said they realise devs only have a few devices to work with to test their apps at home, so they are introducing a way for them to send their build to them, and Google will test it on 20 different top selling devices, and send the results back to the devs with error and fc logs. This sounds amazing! Devs won't need to own devices to see how their app does on them!

My question is: Could builders and devs use this resource to test roms on devices they don't own by sending them to Google, or will this be reserved for app development. I'm thinking it will be just for apps, but wouldn't that be great for roms and rom users if it will apply to them?

Don't know. Didn't watch it. Not a ROM developer. Don't want to build for multiple devices, just the one I own.
But it's a great concept and service to developers, huh? They build an app and send to Google to run tests on 20 devices. I was just thinking of the implications if that service were to go beyond apps, but I guess Google wouldn't be interested in spending their resources on promoting rom development since it wouldn't lead to more Internet browsing. I've heard that's their ultimate corporate mission.

No Google doesn't support rom development outside of official oem. Mostly because they think rom developers are amaturs. (not far off.) them you have people like CM that totally breaks AOSP code and merges untested code. Which goes even further to give rom developers bad names.

Give Flex or crDroid a run. Great roms

What's the secret to getting data to work on 5.1.1? I've tried aicp, fusion, validus, crdroid, exodus and candy. Candy was the only one I could get data.

That was with a full wipe before flashing ROM and gapps. Tried changing apn selection, airplane on off, wipe cache and dalvic, and factory rest after initial boot.

I do believe that there are hardware variances between phones that could explain these types of issues.

Does anyone ever download and install the APK's from APK Mirror that are posted on G+? I'm talking about the latest versions of Google Play Services and YouTube; not the pirated apps that have a price on Google Play. I seem to often have bad results when I do that, especially with Services. They usually make my phone go wonky, so I've come to ignore them and just let the updates come to me from Google. I would notice almost an immediate crush on my battery life, for example.

Just wonder if others have similar experiences or if they seem to play nice for you.
