Does anyone ever download and install the APK's from APK Mirror that are posted on G+? I'm talking about the latest versions of Google Play Services and YouTube; not the pirated apps that have a price on Google Play. I seem to often have bad results when I do that, especially with Services. They usually make my phone go wonky, so I've come to ignore them and just let the updates come to me from Google. I would notice almost an immediate crush on my battery life, for example.

Just wonder if others have similar experiences or if they seem to play nice for you.
mjjcb Good day,
I have been using an app called DS Battery Saver Pro. It has done wonders for my phone when the screen is turned off. It controls the radios by just allowing them to toggle on a timed basis. For example every hour for 1 minute it checks for updates for social networking, email, RSS, etc. It gave my G3 a 40% boost. I have a Power Bear 6200mAh battery I bought on Amazon. Let's just be honest... If you want your phone to last all day, you have to get an extended battery. 3000mAh is simply not enough battery life. I get off average 48 hours of normal usage with DS Batt Saver running. $29 for the battery & $5 for the pro version of the app. Best investment I've made for my G3. Hope this helps.
-Happy Flashing

I'd like to give a big thanks to @engine95 @pump Ac7ion @red3razor and @HPTesla for making Roms, kernels and everything else they have contributed to the G3. You guys are heroes in my book for all the time and effort you guys put into this phone.

I recently had a note edge given to me so I have jumped ship. Kinda regret my decision as there is no development going on for it but it is a pretty nice phone.

how does one go about deodexing the stock ZVB rom since i'm on Boost the Sprint roms don't completely work (can't edit the /system partition as if it had write protection)
idk if that's a carrier issue... Did you mount the partition?

EDIT: you can also find the deodexed rom here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...990-zvb-root-method-zvb-rooted-stock-t3211878

I'm currently using that rom. It's fully stock. I care about my camera more than using AOSP, so I'm biting the bullet with the terrible UI lol

i found a method for the Galaxy S5 which worked for the ZVB stock but...i have to edit the installer script so it's for the G3....but i don't know what exactly to change....(i downloaded the rom you pointed too, but the problem is that it uses .img files and not the regular folders :/)

I haven't been able to get a working updater-script. For odex or deodexed. All of my attempts at flashing a deodexed rom have failed.
I blame it on CDMA not letting it happen with lollipop. But idk.

If you already have root and custom recovery, no. Don't waste apace.

But maybe keep recovery.IMG and aboot files. Just in case.

I f you're ever unsure about whether it's OK to delete stuff , rename it,add .bak to the end of file name and reboot. And always have a nandroid backup to restore to.

I have a couple questions and need some feedback. I have a LS990 from sprint. My old G3
3 was destroyed and so I am now in the waiting phase to receive my new G3. I rooted and installed TWRP when I first received my G3 (one time) but its been well over a year. When I get my new G3, I would like to install TWRP and have it rooted like my last one. I just want to confirm from what I read in the OP in the link below, one of the methods will root and install bumped twrp at the same time? I'm not sure when I receive my new phone whether it will have lollipop 5.0 or 5.1, does that make a difference? If it does install twrp, will it be the latest version? Thanks again for the feedback, I would like to be ready to get this done when my phone arrives.

This is the link I found, would this method work in rooting and installing twrp?

Thanks
