The uFocus feature is not working on Marshmallow

Hi everybody. I have a HTC One M8 and I can't seem to figure it out on how to use the uFocus feature for the dual cameras. I've looked in the internet and all I can find is some old tutorials for old android versions. Help would be appreciated!!

Take a pic in good lighting
Go to gallery > FX editor > Effects > UFocus

edit: make sure it's not an extreme close-up macro shot

I've never once got this to work. First I got "the duo camera is blocked" message so sent the phone back for repair. And ever since every picture says "this picture is not suitable for duo effects". I gave up.
