I had an older version of the Stream app working yesterday. But it uses the old screen grid that I hate. The newer version of Stream's software is much better but I don't know if any the these recent apks uses it. I tried both v8a and v7a and it's trouble from the start. After install the screen stays black until I hit back a couple times and when I log in a get a message along the lines of 'something wrong on our end, try again later.' It's correctly reading my credentials because when I purposely enter my password wrong it tells me that it is wrong. No clue about the problem. I just got the Shield Pro yesterday. Like it. It's fast but I want Directv Stream to work.

The v8a and v7a are extracted from the mobile app. When I installed on the Shield I was unable to log in as it appears it is asking for AT&T mobile login credentials and not Directv Stream credentials. You now need to install the apk extracted from a Firestick such as the base.apk or the one from Achilles R32 in post #2313 above. Even with that apk I still have problems with the sound occasionally cutting out and occasional looping. If anyone has a fix for those problems please let me know.

Wow. It works! Many thanks. It has the new guide format also. It's behaving so far but I haven't spent much time with it. DTV needs to get on the ball and produce an official version for the Shield.

Just got the app needs an update with 4.0.28 on my Sony A80J. So uninstalled it and the DTV icon. I have been using the v7a from the mobile app. It's been the only one to work. Tried this for the heck of it. And surprise it worked. No trouble with login. PQ and sound seem ok and guide is working. I may try the mobile version just to see how it looks. But for now this is fine...

Ok I see the one from Achilles is also from a Firestick. So it likely won't be any different..

Only difference is my logo icon shows up DirectTV Stream and that one will show AT&T TV.

can you try again , i re uploaded the file pulled from a firestick 4k ( should be the same as above , wonder if the file maybe corrupt that you tried) , if it works . ill start uploading the apk files again if there is enough demand .

This worked for me on a 2017 Shield. Uninstalled first. Everything works good so far.

You likely uninstalled the icon apk and not the actual DTV stream apk.

I went to my settings menu in Google chrome and uninstalled the DirectTV app. There's not exactly a lot of options since all this is on the jank. Perhaps I'll have to do a complete reset and reinstall but I'm trying to avoid that obviously.

Got it. Make sure you’re not using the 64-bit version of the apk. The one that you should use has “…v7a…” in the file title.

I checked your post....it's gibberish.

But it does work unlike the other apks you tried.That's the official Fire Stick apk of the app.I just fixed the app icon image to show DirecTV Stream instead of AT&T TV on non Fire devices.Also no launcher apk needed.

OK I got it all figured out.

The mediafire site where this entire thread originally pointed people is where I had been getting apk's. The "...v7a...." version of the apk doesn't seem to exist (or if it does I cannot locate it in any folders) on that mediafire site. If there is a non 64-bit version somewhere I don't understand how to identify it with those folders offerings.

I did find the "...v7a...." version on APKmirror , downloaded it yes it appears to be working. I did still need to install the same "DTV Stream Icon.apk" after installing the main APK in order to get it to show up under the apps.

If only DirectTV could get their crap together and release an actual app for Android TV for Google's Chromecast.

Hi everyone. Just got DTV Stream installed and running on my Shield TV Pro.
Everything works fine, except DVR functions. Everything I try to record says "programming not available".
I searched but didn't find anyone else with this issue.
Any ideas?
