Hello and thank you for welcomming us!

How do we changenour profile pictures?
Hi,
Just trying to make sure there isn't any confusion, did you mean profile picture or avatar picture? Those are actually 2 different things on xda (at least not for long since we will soon move from vbulletin to XenForo platform) .

> To modify your avatar pic (this is what everyone will see at first on mobile app and website):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editavatar

> To modify your profile pic (a bit hidden additional pic):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editprofilepic

Greetings fellow human wormbabies. I'm not an android developer, but fancy myself capable of being one if I want to. I had a brief encounter with android app development some years ago, but couldn't get used to the mess at the time, since it was so different from most programming experiences at the time. I'm more of a script-guy / sysadmin personality, focused on performance and optimization. I'm enthusiastic about Linux and I find it mind-boggling that phones are still locked down in a way similar to the early IBM BIOS days.

I've known about XDA for a long time, but never owned a device that had been successfully hacked. My current device is a Nokia 2.2, bought spontaneously because it was cheap. But it has become slow, with android+bloat using ~60% RAM when idle, and a whopping ~75% of storage. This is of course absolutely unacceptable, so it's time for a new device or a custom ROM. I'm considering upgrading to the Nokia 3.4 or maybe the 5.4, depending on what's in stock at my local tech-dealer.

Hi everyone,
thanks for providing so much valuable knowledge. I have been reading the forum for a while and finally registered. I am currently looking for a new smartphone (haven't had one for the last year) and trying to buy one that I can make use of for the longest time possible.

Hi,

I just started my journey to root a Oneplus Nord N200 5G from T-Mobile. I've rooted a Moto G6 in the past using the information found here but I suspect the N200 will be a little more challenging.

@aalonsocorral Welcome to XDA! I hope you'll always get the support you required.

However, as courtesy I've translated your above posts. This is just a friendly reminder that English is the mandatory language! With reference to rule no. 4 of the XDA Forum Rules, please post in English or add at least an English translation to your Spanish posts.
4. Use the English language.

We understand that with all the different nationalities, not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English, use an online translator. You're free to include your original message in your own language, below the English translation. (This rule covers your posts, profile entries and signature). You could try :- https://translate.google.com/ or https://www.babelfish.com/ or use one of your choice.

Thanks for your cooperation!
Regards

Please take a look at the links below. We have added some valuable information that will help guide you to success on XDA.

First and foremost, when it comes to success on XDA, we expect all members, both new and old, to know, understand, and follow all of the rules and policies set forth by the forum administrators. You can review the rules in the link below. These rules are also pinned at the top of every forum page as an announcement.

We understand that being new to this forum can be a little overwhelming. Our very own Senior Moderator, mikef, has taken the time to write a very extensive guide that covers just about everything you need to know when starting off here at XDA. We suggest you take some time and read through this guide as it will answer most, if not all of the questions that you may have as a new member.

Next you will probably notice that there is a restriction set on all new members for posting in the development sections here on XDA. Once you have posted 10 times, this restriction will be lifted. This isn't to punish new members, but to give all new members a chance to understand how XDA works before one is allowed to post in those sections. Please note that we do require a new members' first 10 posts to be constructive and helpful. Any spamming to avert this restriction will lead to posts being deleted. For a more in-depth explanation of why this rule exists, please follow the link.

Last but not least, there may be times when you need assistance from someone on the XDA staff. Our staff is always here, 24 hours a day, to assist you with anything that you may need regarding the forum itself. However, please keep in mind that our staff is not here to answer questions about issues that you may be having with your device. We are here solely for issues within the forum itself that may need to be addressed. If you come across an issue with the forum, the easiest way to get our attention is by reporting a post.

We wish you luck with all of your endeavors on XDA. Your success here is up to you, but we hope this starting place helps set you on the path to that success. XDA welcomes you with open arms and we thank you for joining our community.

    Enjoy your stay!
