Hi everyone,
N00b, er new user here, venturing into phone modding for the first time because my kid "needs" Google Chat to connect to his friends, but the phone we have has only 512Mb RAM and won't run anything past Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) so I'm here to look for solutions.
Last I touched code, it was block code on code.org and many many years before that I was programming on Watcom Pascal terminals in HS. That should set my age bracket quite nicely.
So, I'm not a coder, but I know my way around a computer keyboard and forum and my google-fu is decent, so I have confidence that I'll get thoroughly confused but manage to find answers in the end.

In other areas of my life, I teach elementary school, knit, bike and practice Buddhism pretty seriously (5 precepts since November 2019, informally longer than that).

Yena#2573 on Discord where I spend waaay too much time.

Hi, I'm just some random highschooler guy who has too many old devices to mess with (old laptops and phones are particularly abundant). Came here after I got interested in modding an old phone I got and also after I realized I needed a reply to properly thank the person who answered my question lol

Welcome!

I'm glad you found it straight forward. Hopefully soon you can post a guide and help others do the same with their Samsung device. Although please check first if a similar thread/guide already exists. To do so you can use the forum search function.

All the best in the world of XDA!!😎

Hi. Total noob here, just getting into the world of programming/coding/development etc. I'm between a "barely know enough to get the terminology halfway right" and "knows just enough to be be dangerous... To his own devices health and wellbeing" have only bricked 1 phone so far though, 0 successful roots (self taught without reading the guides doesn't help with that) finally admitted to myself this is not just "the correct answer will be obvious" type of thing so take me to school! Lol.

In all seriousness ive lurked for a while, time to get involved and learn from those willing to share the knowledge.

Thanks in advance!

I actually read this forum a lot before I had to register to ask for help after bricking my Huawei p10 plus.
BTW can the logo be updated? lol

Howdy, all!. Thanks for letting me join. I'm likewise a total noob, but now that I'm retired I have found myself very interested in app development, too.

I'm still very, very new to this, and as one of my first tasks, I'm trying to figure out how to reverse the x-axis on an Android tablet. I had to replace the touch screen for reasons too humiliating to get into, and the new screen works great -- just functionally backwards on the left-to-right axis. The display is fine -- it's purely the the touch screen (left is right, and right is left). I downloaded ADB, was able to get my tablet to show up, but after than I couldn't figure out how to get "inside" of the thing and see if there was a way to change the x-values. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Please take a look at the links below. We have added some valuable information that will help guide you to success on XDA.

First and foremost, when it comes to success on XDA, we expect all members, both new and old, to know, understand, and follow all of the rules and policies set forth by the forum administrators. You can review the rules in the link below. These rules are also pinned at the top of every forum page as an announcement.

We understand that being new to this forum can be a little overwhelming. Our very own Senior Moderator, mikef, has taken the time to write a very extensive guide that covers just about everything you need to know when starting off here at XDA. We suggest you take some time and read through this guide as it will answer most, if not all of the questions that you may have as a new member.

Next you will probably notice that there is a restriction set on all new members for posting in the development sections here on XDA. Once you have posted 10 times, this restriction will be lifted. This isn't to punish new members, but to give all new members a chance to understand how XDA works before one is allowed to post in those sections. Please note that we do require a new members' first 10 posts to be constructive and helpful. Any spamming to avert this restriction will lead to posts being deleted. For a more in-depth explanation of why this rule exists, please follow the link.

Last but not least, there may be times when you need assistance from someone on the XDA staff. Our staff is always here, 24 hours a day, to assist you with anything that you may need regarding the forum itself. However, please keep in mind that our staff is not here to answer questions about issues that you may be having with your device. We are here solely for issues within the forum itself that may need to be addressed. If you come across an issue with the forum, the easiest way to get our attention is by reporting a post.

We wish you luck with all of your endeavors on XDA. Your success here is up to you, but we hope this starting place helps set you on the path to that success. XDA welcomes you with open arms and we thank you for joining our community.

    Enjoy your stay!
