Hey everybody, I was having problems compiling my edits and installing these apk's.
so I got a hold of Fernando and found out what the problem was.
Turns out that after I got rid of anything that had the word vending in it, I installed an official Vending.apk version 2.2.11 then I flashed an edited unsigned Vending.apk version 2.2.11 over that and it has so far
......., done the trick.
I've downloaded apps, updated apps& installed the apps, with no force closes or problems of any kind. And I've been struggling for a while now trying to find a solution to this.
Thanks to Fernando, we've narrowed it down to what I've explained above.
Hope this helps anyone else that may be having trouble getting these better looking market apks installed.

I'm using an epic 4G

Hi I come from over in the Epic forums :)

The reason i am asking this is the last time i tried to flash a gmail black mod. It messed up my phone right before i had to get on a train and leave town for a week. And of course i did not do a nadroid right before:mad: yes yes i no (i had one that was a few weeks old so it was not that bad)

So my questions

Has any one flashed the gmail on a Epic? What ROM 2.1 (DI18) or 2.2.1 (DK28)

i'am still running stock 2.1 ROM (need Mobile AP) and Mixup Kernel is there any reason that the Markets and or the gmail mods would not work on my Epic?

Thanks

I have flashed the Gmail Mod on my Epic w/o any problems. If I remember correctly I may have first deleted the gmail.apk with Root Explorer then flashed it. I am using Bonsai ROM 1.1.4 (DK28).

I have tried without sucsess to flash the Market as I have mentioned before. Now On the Bonsai ROM the Vending.apk in System/Apps is called com.android.vending_2.2.7.apk NOT Vending.apk. So when I follow the instruction on the OP and it says to leave the Vending.apk, should I rename the com.android.vending_2.2.7.apk to Vending.apk before flashing or leave it as is?

Ok so you got rid of ALL files with the word Vending, including Vending.apk in the system/apps?

Then you installed an "Official" Vending 2.2.11? Where did you get an official file to download? And did you flash this or manually move it to the proper location.

So if I am not understanding correctly, just want to be sure I get this correct. I fought with this for a couple days and would like to get it to work.

Thanks

LOL. That is just how it is in the Bonsai ROM and yes it works fine. You would have to ask Mammon as to why its that way. All I know is that IS the way it is named on that ROM. And I am sure that is part if not all of my issue on flashing this.

I am guessing it may have something to do with making changes on how the Market works and maybe he could not keep the same name and still get the changes to stick. But I really have no clue.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I could do?

Yes, I think I have already tried that a few times. If I remember correctly, I lost my icon in the launcher, but if I looked in the system/app the file WAS there.

I will try again though.

Thanks
