followed your instructions, but it's not working on my 9208. i installed, moved Theme.DarkMatter.sjon (should be Theme.DarkMatter.json) from data/overlays/trialsjon to data/overlays/usersjon, rebooted, applied theme and i'm seeing the stock TW theme. any suggestions would be appreciated. wanted to add that it works fine as a Trial.
This is for the galaxy note 5 and is a much higher resolution then your phone and is why it is posted in the galaxy note 5 forum. I guess I should have mentioned that. The resolution in the DarkMatter.sjon is set for 1440x2560 and shouldn't even show in Theme chooser on your phone.

Clearing cache and dalvik didn't resolve my issue ... Thanks.

can you see the theme and all the applets in data/app ? You should see Theme.DarkMatter.* And if you installed a second time it will uninstall not reinstall.

Yes; i see all the applets in data\overlays\ before moving the json file per your instructions . When I move the json file to the userjson folder and reboot the applets are gone.

All the applets are moved the the overlays directory during install and once install is complete are in data/app. You might
see a couple applets left in data/overlays once install is complete if you don't have the corresponding app to overlay installed on your phone. But if you don't see Theme.DarkMatter-1 and many other folders named Theme.DarkMatter.* in data/app the install never finished. Look at the screen shot that is what you should see in data/app

Try running the install again then see if the folders are removed. If they are reboot to recovery clear cache and dalvek again then try the install one more time.

Which rom are you using?

completed these steps as requested: folders were removed, cleared both cache and dalvik, reinstalled, moved json file, rebooted and same result: still doesn't work. thanks for your guidance.

I'm not sure but it could have to do with using a odexed rom. I should do some testing tonight and see.
redownloaded the apk, compared MD5 hash and they were different. so i uninstalled, cleared cache/dalvik, reinstalled per your original instructions and the DarkMatter theme is working! thanks again for your help! :good::)
