When I flash it, the apps icon on the home screen is the snakes head orb. I like the block with smaller squares in it like the screen shots from the ops post. Is there a way to change it?

The one with the blocks is the stock launcher I believe. ... There should be a app in you're drawer called twisted home manager. .. choose that and clear your default for apex. You can also go to your apps manager and clear defaults. .. then just choose touchwiz as your launcher

Ic launcher home in drawable xhdpi and hdpi l beleive. There's two. Pressed is the other one. Edit: ic all apps PNG is it
