I feel like an idiot now.

Since my adb doesn't work, this is what I did (I should have done this from the beginning, I think I was making it harder than I needed to).

1. Removed every file on the phone (including cache) related to Twitter.
2. Put your Twitter.apk in /system/app and set perms
3. Rebooted

background is not smoked

hi rori,

i love your smoked widgets. i am using a i5700 spica and i pushed the twitter and facebook apks to /system/app using root explorer (copy-paste) and they installed fine after a reboot. however, the widget backgrounds are white and not smoked glass, so i can't read the text which is also white. am i doing something wrong? thanks!

Hey do you think you can make this into a zip file so you can just flash it?

I'm not good at all with ADB commands and always seem to fail at doing anything when it comes to them.

If people want to try an easier way to do this, try installing Root Explorer.

Check the permissions of the files you want to change in /system/app then delete them (to check the permissions just a long tap on the file should pop a list, select permissions). (make sure to mount as R/W, you can do this by tapping on the mount R/W button on the top of the screen)

Copy the files you downloaded from this post to the /system/app folder, match the permissions you noted earlier.

Reboot

(maybe if you post this in the OP would make it easier for people Rori)

I just wanted to do an flashable update.zip....but maybe I leave it like this, cause at least people should know a little bit about adb & permissions before they change anything on their devices.

Please do a flashable update.zip.

It's a lot easier and quicker then using ADB.
