Hey folks, if overlays are really important to you don't update to android 8. Just updated my phone and no overlays work :(

After some research I've found that overlays have been blocked intentionally.

Nothing stupid there. Legit all the way.
Not official through my carrier, but not sure otherwise.

Look at this maybe you can tell.
Well I would say Oreo 8, who is your carrier? I know they are releasing Oreo in Canada directly to the S8, S8+, and Note 8. I will be very disappointed if Substratum doesn't work. Try downloading ThemeGalaxy from the playstore, you may be surprised at how well it works. It builds themes and puts them in the theme store.

I'm on tmo. This is how I updated:

I think to use subsratum you need another app too for it to work now.

No it's actually subsratum and I think andromeda or something like that now

No going back me thinks. Wasn't really concerned about that. But it's flawless and tons of new features.

Yes been running it since early February, so did you just flash the update and skip the odin part?
No you NEED Odin. Download the file extract and add the files individually (CP, BL, AP) in their appropriate slots. You're going to flash them all at once. Might also have to change md5 to tar on all the extracted files or Odin will hangon verify.
After that reboot and flash the update via recovery from your sd.

Ok so you did odin the BRA8 files, that's what I was curious about thanks for your help and information. Guess we better let this thread get back to topic. Promised my wife I wouldn't mess with the Note 8 once I got it but it's so tempting.

One more question, you are not rooted???

After the Official Oreo update Substratum and the new Andromedia that is needed to download themes and use with Substratum is a pain in the butt. I have found it much easier to use ThemeGalaxy found in the Play Store. I can get a nice black theme with the highlights I choose.

Any way for me to get my Google Pixel nav bar buttons back since the Oreo update on my NOTE 8? I used the overlay found on here a few months ago, but apparently it was only compatible with Nougat.

The stock Samsung buttons are so ugly if I can't get the pixel ones back I'm about to sell this phone.

Thanks

Thanks for that, looks better then Substratum, don't want to run the script every time after restart

With the latest update to ThemeGalaxy you can get in the advanced section and really customize. There is some learning curves, but it's getting better all the time.
Yes, I have already created a project with the dark variant, :)

Still have some small bugs on device maintenance screen, but not big problem.

Really like this app.
