I GOT IT!!!!!!!

The ONLY thing that needs to be changed is the fingerprint

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.0/ESD20/17572:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

Thats the ONLY thing i changed...maps still sees it as being 3.2.0(3232) tmm blah blah blah but navigation works!!!!!!

I DID however use the updated build.prop that followinginsanity made...my wi-fi doesn't work anymore though(wierd)

I was just testing that line actually :p good job on narrowing it down.
just put your old build props back and wifi should be ok again

Does anyone who still hasn't gotten it to work want to try simply pushing NavigationParameters.data to /data/data/com.google.android.apps.maps/files/

I have a mytouch running cyanogen 4.2.3.1. I tried the instructions and got "INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE". Did this to fix the issue

adb push build.prop /system/app
adb push build.trout.prop /system/app
adb push build.trout.prop /system/app/build.sapphire.prop
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm *Maps*
cd /system/sd/app
rm *maps*
rm *Maps*
cd /system/sd/dalvik-cache
rm *maps*
rm *Maps*
reboot

After it rebooted, adb install Maps.apk

Varified navigation worked. Then I pushed the .prop files from the 4.2.3.1.zip

adb push build.prop /system
adb push build.sapphire.prop /system
adb push build.trout.prop /system
adb shell reboot

works perfect

SLIGHT problem...i THOUGHT i backed up the old build.props...but apparently i only backedup the "build.sapphire.props". So i checked the original build installer, but the build.props in that, the same as the "build.sapphire.props" that I backed up. is that right? they should have 2 completey seperate code correct?

if you are using a sapphire

pull. the build.prop and the build.sapphire.prop from the rom file you downloaded to flash. and use those.

if you are using a dream

use the build.trout.prop instead

oops, sorry about that. I did make a mistake. here is the proper commands

adb push build.prop /system
adb push build.trout.prop /system
adb push build.trout.prop /system/build.sapphire.prop
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm *Maps*
cd /system/sd/app
rm *maps*
rm *Maps*
cd /system/sd/dalvik-cache
rm *maps*
rm *Maps*
reboot

That's the wierd part...in the rom, there's only a build.prop HOWEVER...if I use it for both build.prop AND build.sapphire.prop....everything works fine.
