I just ordered the Otterbox Commuter yesterday off eBay. I will leave my comments after I have had it for a few weeks. I have also been a fan of full body wraps but I felt that with this phone it could use a case because it just seem so fragile.

Seidio Surface case works for me. A bit stronger than tpu, but not bulky at all.

I have a TPU, and the Vertex, it's the one I use the most, it protects it very well. My phone fell from like 4 feet and it didn't had any scratch or damage. The only thing is that bothers me is that bar where it says HTC, it blocks the Proximity Sensor and when you call it doesn't shut down the screen. I took a knife and took it off hahaha. Also, the phone is a little difficult to get out of your pocket because of the black parts of the case.

I have the Seidio Active case with kickstand with the holster. Love it ,but a bit too bulky for me for daily use. I use it for travel though. The seidio hit the cobble stones at Disney's magic kingdom where it hit the floor a few times when I was crouching down picking up my daughter. LOL.

My daily is this

It's a combo of hard plastic (clear parts) and tpu (black outlines). I have dropped it from sitting at table using the Seidio Active holster. And not a scratch. Impressed I was :D

Case Mate "Barely there" case

Case Mate "Barely there" case is the one you want - very thin yet very tough and it has a less slippery surface than the Sensation back cover, so it doesnt feel like you are trying to pull a bar of wet soap out of your back pocket anymore !! :)

There is no way I would feel comfortable dropping my sensation with the barely there case by case mate. I really like the otterbox that arrived last Friday. Doesn't add a whole lot of bulk and I feel it would protect the phone well from an accidental drop.

I have the Vertex case - I also had the issue with the Proximity sensor - except in my case it thought that I had the phone held up to my face - the screen would power off and that caused problems when I needed to use the touchtone keys.

The second issue I had was the charging port - the silicone caused issues with multiple micro-usb cables. I ended up cutting out the top part of the silicone off, so that I can charge properly.

Also - the hard plastic is showing either scratches or stress fractures. The plastic feels a bit too flexible to me.

For me its an acceptable alternative to the tough cases only because they offer colour combinations. The only reason I would go for this case, is if you don't like the black on black combination - like me.

i just got this one, and I'm very happy so far

i just got it yesterday, and it hasnt had to withstand anything yet, but it feels sturdy, and it has a little bit of a lip over the edges of the screen, so if it falls on a flat floor the screen wont crack. My only complaint is that the power button and volume rockers are pretty mushy now, but I'll get used to it (I think)

i used to go for the high end trident, otterbox, seido cases for my smartphones, until I realized that the reception on my g2 (back when I had that) went dow with thick extra sturdy cases. I havent noticed a degradation in reception with this one.
also whatever case you get, make sure it doesnt cover up the noise cancellation mic on the back (its the hole right above the camera).

I wonder if there are different versions of the vertex, or maybe a copy of it? I haven't had any of those issues, no scratches, the prox sensor functions perfectly, no factures etc. I got mine from amazon, I know I've seen them on ebay also so I wonder if those aren't the exact same?

Have you actually tried the naztech case? I'm sitting here right now literally starting at it trying to find a problem with something and I can't. I can't compare it with the tough case but its better than the otter.

Like I said before, and I don't know if this even matters, the naztech has cut outs for all the holes on the back cover, none of the other two piece cases have that feature.

As far as the plastic, the naztech has a rubberized back which makes it easier to hold than the otter but still slides into a my pocket easy.
Actually, yeah I do have one, hence my statement that it's crap. The damn thing cracked on me by the volume rocker after 2 weeks of VERY light use.....
