I use YouTube vanced but with the resolution checks turned off. I tried new pipe app and compared them side by side with the vanced app and there was not any difference.
This is seriously Crazy by Vivo!!!

Are you sure you compared both using a same HDR video, because in my case the difference is quite noticable.

Checked in all three apps i.e youtube, youtube vanced and newpipe but the max resolution options available are 1080p60 HDR. Is there no option to play 4k HDR videos on vivo nex?
I just updated to the latest release and I'm going to say that it is much better but still not as vivid as when you test in the new pipe app. The colors are no longer washed out, but they don't Pop as much. Now more almost an issue of saturation and contrast. Definitely much better. Also, for the test video I use, if you pause and background the YouTube app, when you un-backgeound it and hit play, you will see the cover art is very vivid and then just before it plays, you can see the AI kick in and the image quality takes a dive towards being washed out.

I can confirm with the latest update to the Chinese ROM 1.20.5 (using the phone in Canada on Rogers), and there is little to no change from the previous update with regards to HDR color management and color temperature in the gallery and HDR-enabled videos on the YouTube app.
Please Vivo, allow for full-use potential of the display! Turn the color management junk off!!

Has anyone found a way to get around the system color management? Is it like this on the International ROM?

Even using Google Photos and looking at the images compared to the stock Vivo Album app, and it's clear this display can do so much more!!! The vibrancy and color saturation isn't even comparable.
Anything can be done if they release the source code make sure you guys sign the petition to change that on change.org we almost reach the 1000 goal

The phone is legit though, if we can get around the locked source code, we'll be able to unleash the potential!
I think the HDR color management and system washing of the saturation of the display is also in the camera as well. I noticed today that when I am using a 3rd party app to send a picture, the camera looks 100x cleaner and vibrant that the inherent Vivo stock camera app. Sucks ???
