Cisco case raised - Excellent, but no resolution.
HTC support - Beyond useless.
Google - Not interested.

Summary - 400quid for a phone that does not support Cisco access points, this phone is flawed.

Verdict E-

Sometimes routers work in both WPA and WPA2 mode, and I guess devices connect according to their capabilities. I think mine is in this mode, and I think my Nexus one has problem reconnecting as well. I will check now. I rarely use wifi since my 3g data plan is unlimited.

Confirmed: I have the same issue. When the wifi turns off on the n1, the 'wifi networks available' notification appears (when I turn the screen back on again), but it doesnt reconnect. and it says "scanning" in the settings. I wonder if it has to do with my AP being wireless N (when I got the N1, it didnt even see my AP, because of the mixed 20/40 MHz channel width mode).

If you're rooted, you can try other ROMs or install the fixed WiFi driver:

It's not a fix for this problem, but it might have some effect. If not - since Nexus connects to a bunch of WPA2-secured routers, including 2 of my own (and one running mixed WPA/WPA2 mode), I suppose that the problem lies specifically between Nexus and 521G, and might possibly be fixed from any side - either the Nexus driver, or Cisco FW. Either side might be at fault.

If you're knowledgeable in networks - you can fire up a low-level WiFi protocol sniffer on a PC and see, what is the traffic being exchanged and where is the failure. It might help the Android devs to fix the driver, or Cisco to fix the FW.
