I tried the Rodriguez MIUI ROM today after being wowed by the videos I saw on the internet, but in the end I've decided its not for me.

I think its partially because coming from an iphone, I've become accustomed to the android way now, yet for me, its does seem to be trying to ape iOS somewhat... and yet despite the talk of it being blazing fast, the reality for me is it really didn't feel as snappy and smooth as I expected, and I didn't really enjoy using it, so it lasted all of a couple of hours.

I do appreciate what they've done, and it goes to show what's possible, but in the end I went with CM6 and the Minimalist Matte theme, and find my phone actually smoother and more responsive with this, and a decent Quadrant of 1405 is good enough for me - but in the real world the phone is really fast and snappy, which it didn't quite seem with MIUI.

So while I do admire what they've tried to do, and to a large extent, achieved, it just felt too much like a poor mans iphone for me, and hence, felt it wasn't for me. It's good to have choices like this though :)

MiUI is pretty nifty in that it does change quite a few things around. I used a GB version of it sometime back for a couple of months, and finally switched back to CM7+ and now since I'm sh*t outta luck hoping for an ICS update to CM for Nexus 1:(

I've gone with the latest MiUI and while its good, the stability isn't the best in the current build. Hope they improve it soon. random reboots and app closes ain't exactly make for a dependable phone!

I installed MIUI ICS yesterday and it's working almost great. There was a random reboot until this night :( Unfortunately I still can't run A2SD on this ROM - after enable and reboot error occurs "permission manager has stopped and the other is process, com has stopped". I tried reformat SDcard - still the same error. I hope they do something with that in future releases because MIUI is awesome.

I have tried quite a few roms too many to name but in my mind there is no doubt that miui was the most smooth battery friendly and user friendly and extremely customizable. I didn't like the stock launcher that miui incorporates in their rom because like others it was very iphone like and I just couldn't part with the app drawer either. However that is a minor issue since you can opt not to use their launcher and use adw launcher (like cm uses) or go launcher, I think there are many others but these 2 are my favorite ones. After getting ion miui I have not looked back extremely amazing rom. Unfortunately a2sd used to work but after I updated to a newer version a2sd broke for me and I couldn't fix it but then I just started using a custom mtd to define my partion sizes which helped offset of not having a2sd.
