I'm using jesper kernel and it heats like hell while charging. Charging rate doesn't exceeds 1600mah too. Does this kernel also heats my battery up?
I got around 1850 to 2060 ma charging rate while using jasper kernel. I used a 2 amp charger.
And regarding overheating, if you see in the 'thermal' tab, all of the options will be turned off by default. Even if you turn on it wont. So that might be the reason for overheating. There must be some reason why the developer has done that, which i am unaware of..
For your case i might suggest chimera kernel, which is a good alternative for the jasper kernel.. It is also being updated every now and then when required.

Even with HOTTEST android PIE ) I have no problem with Jasper kernel. Problem is in the ROM or thermal config..
How can I make changes to it so that it prevents overheating?
It's not getting uploaded. When opened in file manager, it says the file is empty.

Don't make changes to anything. Do not charge your phone soon after you change kernel. Wait for at least an hour. The heating will be significantly reduced.
Yeah this file is empty removed by someone who knows.. with dummy file to remove temp throttling so you can charge your phone at maximum speed with cost of increased temp..
