I second that! You would think big companies would have these kind of tools built into their products instead of relying on a third party. But that's what I think of when I hear the word stock. It's a basic setup/starting point from the OEM that can be improved upon quite easily by third party input. I almost think they leave these types of tools out for the reason that we have some amazing devs that will take care of it with a little imagination.I've tested this app before and it's so so. Most users will want something easy to use without much tinkering or setup. It works pretty well through, but it could use some more features, it lacks a widget, and there is no notification bar icon for fast access. Good comment though. Maybe the people who are completly stock everything should give this a go since they are reporting lag issues.
I agree with you on the simplicity of the app in the original post. If the developer can dial out the lag it is definately the best tool for screen filtering on the xoom. I just wish the OEMs would provide simple calibration tools for screens.
That's crazy, I had the same problem awhile ago with this app, very weird indeed. This really isn't a big deal or a reason to stop using it because it literally takes half a second to disable it real quick and turn it back on. So no worries. It's just odd.I was trying to install an app from amazon appstore and pressing the install icon would not have any response, only the cancel icon worked. Found out by disabling the screen filter , I was able to install my apps by pressing the install icon. Very weird.
In addition to this issue on my xoom, on my Nexus S I couldn't get it to compose emails when trying to select compose emails unless I disabled the filter as well.I was trying to install an app from amazon appstore and pressing the install icon would not have any response, only the cancel icon worked. I suppose these issues arise because it hasn't been updated in awhile, let alone for us Honeycomb users and newer phone users. That's what this all looks like to me. Thanks for the report! If anyone finds anymore issues like this, post them up here and I will add them to my new list.In addition to this issue on my xoom, on my Nexus S I couldn't get it to compose emails when trying to select compose emails unless I disabled the filter as well.

Yesterday at BestBuy I got a really clear understanding of how there are two different Xoom screens.I don't see a difference, and I work as an artist and am pretty confident in my ability to notice if colors look different, even by a bit.
Perhaps some Xoom screens vary in quality?
Hi there has been several reports from users that the Xoom (whether wifi or 3g) has different lcd panels.Yesterday at BestBuy I got a really clear understanding of how there are two different Xoom screens.
I have a wifi-only Xoom and my screen is great. It is clear, sharp, colors bright but natural and well balanced. I have never been able to understand the comments by some about how Xoom's screen was inferior to Acer, Asus, etc. In fact, I had done a comparison of my Xoom at 100% brightness doing angry birds with an Acer 500 and an Asus Transformer at the same setting and screen at BB last month, and the Xoom won hands down.
But yesterday, I got a chance to see a 3G Xoom next to a wifi Xoom and the wifi model was so much better, and compared exactly to my wifi model. I set them all to the 1st screen of AB Rio, all at 100% brightness, and even the actual drawing was different. The wifis both showed wood grain and boxes with lots of detail and the entire drawing was smooth, no jaggies. The 3G screen used different, lower resolution items (wire cables) and there were jaggies. Yes my gpu is overclocked, but the BestBuy Xooms were stock 3.2.
Before anyone freaks out, I have no reason to think that all wifis have better screens than the 3Gs but the difference was dramatic.
The difference will not be dramatic or life changing, but I feel that it's a bit of an enhancement. Try setting the system brightness to 50%, and the in app brightness bar to 75.5% or to 72.5%. I just tried these brightness settings myself again just now on my 3G Xoom. Looks good, and doesn't lower the total screen brightness level very much. The straight on view looks quite a bit more vibrant, and the viewing angles are improved a tiny little bit as well. I would recommend to use the market app to compare the before and after, just like I did with my screenshots.I don't see a difference, and I work as an artist and am pretty confident in my ability to notice if colors look different, even by a bit.

Hey man, I haven't been able to figure that out either. I always thought the Xoom's screen display was awesome, and never inferior to the other Honeycomb tablets on the market.Yesterday at BestBuy I got a really clear understanding of how there are two different Xoom screens.

The only problem I had with LCD Density was the fact that I could not get the density settings to stick upon boot up. I would end up manually setting it every single time. And I forgot about Color Filter Service! I am using the paid app now. It works quite well also. That's always good to know.Good stuff!
I use LCD Density and Color Filter Service. Now I'll toss this one into the mix, and I should have just about full screen control.
I've grown very used to my screen at 50% brightness maximum; usually only 25%. Now when I put it on full bright it's way too bright.
Overclocked, I still can get 10 hours plus playing with my Xoom.
As far as I know the only semi decent app is Color Filter Service.is there any app to color enhance?
Not sure about that one. I'm running on 140 density, my homescreen is made up almost entirely of widgets, and none of them are having any kind of issues. Maybe just simply remove and then add the widgets back?i like how the LCD density changes the resolution ..makes the screen great....but one issue... none of my Widgets are loading!... does anyone know why this is?
