I've spent hours today trying to fix my LG G4 after things went south. Here's what happened:
  • Unlocked bootloader
  • Flashed TWRP
  • Tried to flash an AOSP ROM
  • Flash SuperSU, breaking boot
  • Had issues with PC driver disconnecting
  • Reinstalled various driver versions
  • Tried flashing KDZ, Nope.
  • Tried flashing an AOSP/CM ROM, Nope.
  • Flashed 'recovery.img' from http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G4/H815/H81520G/, thinking it would restore normal LG recovery.
  • YEAH, THAT DIDN'T WORK. Now I have no recovery at all.
  • Switching drivers means I now have no adb/fastboot access - UHOH!

So I spent the next THREE HOURS trying to simply restore a KDZ. Here's what didn't work:
  • LG's Mobile Support Tool - just tells me I have the latest update
  • LGUP - 'Unknown model' - and no root access to fake a model number in 'build.prop'
  • LGFlashTool 1.8 (with MegaLock.dll) - This probably would have saved me, but I could find a _single_ TOT+DLL combo for my H815, even though there were MANY references to downloads of them at http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/H815/
  • LGFlashTool 2014 - Every time it loaded up I got a useless 'Could not find required info' message.
  • LG_Root package - DESPERATION. The Send_Command tool is able to send commands over a specified COM port. This got me a on-device shell, but I couldn't think of anything useful that would help. In 'Download' mode, IP and all kinds of things dont seem to work.

And when I thought all was lost, I tried installing LG Bridge. Here's what got me up and running again:

  1. Install LG Bridge
  2. Connect device in Download mode. FYI: 1) Unplug 2) Reinsert battery 3) SIMULTANEOUSLY hold down VOLUP and insert USB
  3. Open LG Bridge
  4. Choose 'Update error recovery' in the bottom right corner (blue text)
  5. The app will: 1) Prepare device 2) Download the latest software 3) Reinstall it

Unbelievably, that worked for me, after wasting hours reading responses on this forum.

XDA-developers needs a WIKI to centralise information. Thousands of hours could be saved.
