Or you could just flash the latest version, and do it properly wiping data and factory reset.

Is everyone that stays on 4.4 perfectly OK with the SSL bug and heartbleed bug remaining on their device? Because I am not.

That got fixed with 4.4.4
What I don't want is 5.0.2 that they keep pushing...
Is there a solution? Nothing seams to work. Tried everything suggested here and fotakill.apk (that seams to do nothing).

What's wrong with 5.x in Nexus 7? I got the OTA notification too but before I updated I checked online what people thought of it. Seems most aren't happy

I kept hoping for performance improvements in 5, then 0.1, 0.2, then 5.1 etc but it just kept getting worse and worse so I finally decided to stop fighting it and used NRT to flash back to 4.4.4. It's so nice now. I then installed Disable Service from Wang Qi to stop the notification for the OTA. I'm not opposed to running the latest OS...heck, I'm running Win 10 at home, but it's just silly to be fighting slow, laggy performance just for the sake of having the latest OS. I'm on 5.1.1 on my 2013 Nexus 7, and it doesn't seem to have nearly the issues with it that the 2012 has.:)

Give 4.1.2 a go. Much better performance. Wifi reception is a tad rubbish though...
