I think the problem could be in the app, as my other apps all work with the SD card.Same here on 4.4.2. All recommended solutions do not work.:crying:

Still doesn't work on my device (4.4.2), my device doesn't have the /storage/emulated folder, and already has media_rw in the WRITE_ACCESS_STORAGE permission, any help? :crying:
Worked like a charm for me.. Would have been nice if Google had not "hidden" this little gem on kit kat.. LOL.Well, after months of searching for a solution and reposting my message on this forum, I was finally able to solve my issue by downloading an app from the play store called: SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD by nextapp. This worked like a charm and now I can go back to using Titanium.
The manual modifications suggested on here did not work for me and I bricked my phone twice while trying them. This was a fool proof solution. Thanks to the person who discovered it and posted here.

This worked perfectly for me on my TMO Note 3, it stopped working when I loaded Effortless rom 8.0. Now it works flawlessly. If your problem was that Titanium was unable to write to an external SD card, like mine was (It will say "Folder is not writable"), then try the steps below:
1. Using a root-enabled file manager like root explorer, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml file and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add this group definition: <group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save changes.
5. Restart.

This didn't work for me either, I tried to make a backup, but kept on getting the insufficient space message, so I deleted the TB folder from /storage/emulated/0 then when i go into TB settings>Backup folder location i get a message that says Current backup location (/storage/emulated/0/Titanium Backup) Cannot be accessed, if i select detect, no matter which i try SD card or Device i get "no backup location was fond" If I make a folder in said location and the navigate to it, it says This folder is not writable, and the permissions cannot be changed either....Follow these steps to fix...
1.) Open Preferences and choose backup folder location
2.) Select Detect and choose whole device
3.) Choose the option /storage/emulated/legacy
4.) Select Use the current folder
5.) Benefit![]()

It's saying that my device is already set up to write to SD cards, but it's wrong as when i go into TB settings it says that this folder is not writable.....https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
I just ran into this. Try this app. Once you run the app reboot your phone.
And try again.
Ok. Did you have titanium installed on a device prior to your s5? And did you back up to your sdcard? It's saying that my device is already set up to write to SD cards, but it's wrong as when i go into TB settings it says that this folder is not writable.....
