Tmo S3 on AT&T network question

Hello, I am on ATT using a Tmo S3 using a LTE APN but battery is draining fast when connected to mobile data. Does anyone have a fix for this (settings?) and where I can still use ATT HSPA+ connection? Thanks in advance.
