To buy or not to buy? Dev support?

Hey guys I'm seriously considering purchasing it but I live in India but that can be taken care of as the US mail forwarding service I use also has a BuyForMe sub-service where they buy the product for me... but in this case since at&t requires a SSN for the compulsory cancel-anytime data plan with the no-contract offering of this tablet, I'm having a tough time getting my hands on this awesome-elegant HTC
tab. So my questions are-
1) Will the developer community at any point in time work on getting it SIM unlocked? Or is it better to wait for a version that will not be bound to AT&T?
2) If any of my dear fellow members will be so kind so as help me somehow (read: above) with getting my hands on this beauty? Can you use a friends' SSN to buy a thing for yourself?

Will be very thankful, if someone will advise on how to perform this kind of buy. In Russia - this device will cost at least 2000$ and will be only in 4-6 months. Unofficially.

The service at www.myusabox.com provides you with a US address to where you can send your shipments. Unfortunately since at&t requires a Social Security Number that only US residents have, they won't be able to buy it for me... which is another of their service where they will buy the product for you.. with a 10% commission of the product's cost...
I recently just visited a site that had the UNLOCKED jetstream for preorder... Just google it... You probably will be able to get the tablet from there.

I bought one. I think its worth the money, but I don't think a lot of people are buying it currently.
