I spent 3 hours trying to get this to work only to figure out that I needed to run the "menu" as an Admin and then followed all the steps as it asked and placed all the items in the folder like it asked only to figure out an hour later that it is looking in my windows System32 folder for these files. after a total of 4 hours and searching all over this thread and internet I can not get it to work. This is the 4th guide I have tried today none have worked.

I recommend not unlocking the bootloader, since the tool supports locked bootloaders also for S Off. If you perform the S Off procedure, there is no need for an unlocked bootloader because you will have an engineering bootloader after S Off.
Also, I request you to wait because the tool is being modified slightly.
i downloaded the rar file. should i download the recovery.img ? where is it used for?

Well, I must say you're the first person with this problem because for me and every single person I have tested this with as been able to run the tool from any folder so long as the filename stays intact (i.e. no spaces). Also, admin rights are not required unless your system policy uses the highest security setting.
The instructions are so clearly stated in the OP. Those are the only instructions you need to follow. I don't know how much easier this can be made. If you don't bother to read & follow all instructions from the OP then don't bother posting if you have any errors. The OP doesn't say that the tool needs to be run as admin.
Now, I'd like some screenshots of the tool to see where it asked for admin rights.
Also a screenshot of it when it is running from any folder & a screenshot when it is running from the System32 folder.
EDIT: if you are getting the ping not recognized problem, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26914611&postcount=4195

Thanks for all useful informations and for your hard work that makes all easier for noobs on android like me :D

I still have a doubt: i want to S-Off my Sensation XE with stock TIM ICS and Hboot 1.27.0000, no root permissions and no htcdev unlock.
I followed all operations running the batch file "1.27 s-off tool" found in tools folder, because the menu batch returns me an error.

I downloaded the "ControlBearRelease_pyramid_ICS_WIN_NOHTCDEV" zip from suggested url and put content files in the tools folder like the step by step guide asks.

My question is, do i always need a blank/unused sd card and make the wire trick, or not with this method?

Thanks once again for your help and patience.

You may lose data. And a blank SD Card must be inserted before starting the tool.
If 1st attempt fails, there is no need to change again before 2nd attempt.
Also, what version of the tool are you using?

I'm using 6.4.4 version (downloaded from first post link).

I do own a blank sd so i will insert before running tasks and i'm ok, but i didn't wan't to do the wire trick.. i fear turning my brand new phone into a useful paperweight!

There is always support on the IRC should anything go wrong. And I'm working on fixing the menu.
IRC link in signature.

EDIT: I have gone through and tested the menu & it is working fine. Are you sure that there are no spaces in the filename of the folder?
EDIT 2: AFTER CAREFUL OBSERVATION, IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO SPACES IN THE PATH TO THE UTILITY.
EDIT 3: ^ I realize this is terrible and I have found the fix :)
Working on applying it to all instances.
This will then solve all the file not found errors! :D

On 23rd may, this tool supported only S Off with revolutionary.
The tool has grown over time & now supports all including 1.29. :)
I request you to wait an hour. The tool is being updated to fix some newly encountered errors. ( check the post above )

OK thank you a lot! :)
Another question: with this tool, do you have to do the weird trick (the bridge with the memory support) to s-off?

I would not have posted if I did not read the entire OP I am not new to this. It did not ask me to run as admin but that was the only way I was able to get the program to do anything. When I ran it normal it just scrolled through a bunch of stuff that did say ping not recognized so I will look in that link you posted. I unziped the folder and left it as is. Are you wanting me to remove the "_" from in between as well?

here is what I get with the new PING.exe

This version of C:\Users\Ai\Downloads\KGS_Utility_v6.4.4\tools\PING.EXE is not c
ompatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's syst
em information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of
the program, and then contact the software publisher.

so if I try to run it as an admin the program will work but the paths are wrong as you stated. I get the pop up error "Windows can not find C:\Windows\system32\"1.27S-Off tool.bat. Please make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again

This tool is an implementation not a new method. Yes, JuopunotBear is used & wire trick must be performed.
another doubt... My sensation Hboot version is 1.18. my doubt is that wire trick is for 1.27 and for me wire trick is not required. am I right? I read the "readme" and it says that "You need to read the guide from http://tinyurl.com/JBGuide from step 6 before attempting Hboot 1.27 S Off".

I have tried all methods and I have never seen that JuopunotBear on screen. I'm just gonna send this warranty replacement back and stick with my old sensation and hope it last. HTC really screwed me on this one.

Don't. All errors are fixed. I'm really working hard no ensure nothing new comes up.
Please wait, I will upload the new version withing the next hour. Understand that I'm human too & there's only so much that I can do.
Check the changelog & see how fast errors are fixed & new features are added. That is just the changelog for 10 days (since the tool was up).

I appreciate all your work I am taking nothing away from that. I know you are putting in work. I see it and commend it. Thank you very much. I was just venting about HTC and this damn phone. Where I am nit able to use the regular HTC method because my motherboard doesn't match my imei or some crap they said. That's all. I have my original sensation rooted and S-Off I just got a warranty replacment that is killing me LOL
