What mode do you need to be in? I guess ADB debugging is also required.

Hi, I have tried this but it does not seem to be working for me:

For Windows:
* Extract from the archive, connect the device to the USB debugging mode (System settings/Developer options/USB debugging) and run selected .bat (depending on the backup or restore)
* To retain the image of efs.img must be in a folder with Restore_EFS.bat

I have I9300, it is rooted with USB debugging enabled
When I click on Backup_EFS,bat file I get the following message:

Backup EFS
Press any key to continue . . .
--- STARTING ----
--- WAITING FOR DEVICE
--- Backup efs image ---
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Press any key to continue . . .

The script closes when I press to continue - no efs.img file

Please tell me what I am doing wrong

Thanks

Thanks.

But a lot of apps which use adb to run "dd if=/of=" and pull the backup image in a folder are already release and work fine. What is new in this batch script ? Thank you anyway. It works correctly.

Nothing, except that, it's pull image to pc and back, and there is no excess, only backup and restore efs partition :)

4 Script is wrong, last 2 adb commands not prefixed by files\

also adb pull will fail on later adb versions since no destination specified, so you need to add . on end, e.g.

files\adb pull /sdcard/efs.img .

Maybe before when you tested abd was in your PATH and was older revision, anyway nice work, more EFS backup solutions the better.
None yet, the first time was right - the first version back

Backing up EFS partition on US SGS III with Linux

Unfortunately, this method does not work with the US version of the SGS III (at least on my AT&T version, i747), but it gave me enough hints on how to do it manually, which is very simple.

The first section of the Backup_efs script fails because the /dev/block/platform folders are named differently. Instead of dw_mmc it is called msm_sdcc.1. Inside /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name is this line:
    Code:
    lrwxrwxrwx root     root              1970-05-14 13:43 efs -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p11

So, the efs partition is not mmcblk0p3, but p11. Using this piece of information, I was able to backup my efs partition easily like this:

    Code:
    adb shell
    su
    dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/efs.img
    exit
    exit
    adb pull /sdcard/efs.img

Don't know if it was necessary to be superuser for this, but it didn't hurt.

    help!!!(solved*)

i backed up my efs folder before flashing the rom..after i flashed the omega rom my imei no. was changed....i hv been trying to restore my backup but it is in .tar.gz format....its been 5 hours of searching n trying different tools but still no luck......
plz can any1 help me n guide me how to restore .tar.gz backup

so i finally did it...n my s3 is working again...
so, what i did is as follows:-
    deleted efs folder frm root
copy the content of efs.taz.gz(after extraction)from the sdcard to root
change the permission of each file in efs folder using terminal emulator
restart...then i saw that my imei no. was generic(before it was not even showing)
then i flashed the MG2 modem as zip file frm cmw recovery...rsterted n my imei no. got restored but still no network
so i flashed a stock based rom...again no network thenni flahed the modem again n finally i got the network
but still my s3 was in factory mode...so frm terminal emulator i did this
    Code:
    su
    rm /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
    rm /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
    echo -n ON >> /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
    echo -n ON >> /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
    chown 1000.1000 /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
    chown 1000.1000 /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
    chmod 0744 /efs/FactoryApp/keystr
    chmod 0744 /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
    reboot
    n evrything is normal now....
hope it will help someone else also...(press thanks if it helps u also)
