Just to make sure, if I unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery then root, can I remove apps from the system/app folder using a root explorer? Or do I have to get s-off to do that?

You don't need s-off for that, but s-off is pretty easy, check out wwjoshdew to get s-off, it doesn't matter if he's using an m7, it's the same way for the m8.

Sweet just got mine downloading this and reading up on rom's and tweaks I'm pretty impressed so far last HTC phone was HTC inspire been waiting for the it factor phone found it

Edit: I advised to use a dialer code that ultimately led to an MDN and MSID reset. This is certainly not the desired outcome.
This is a public apology. I hope to help return this device to it's state before my advice was followed.

I'd imagine that the dialer codes are the same on all Sprint devices. Go into your dialer and dial ##72786# and allow a soft data reset to run its course. You won't lose any data. Please post whether or not that worked, in case others run into the same dilemma.

Did the same advised by you & I lost everything. I lost complete unlock of the phone as well. So now issue has become unlock has gone too apart from data there are no signals on the phone as well. Tried to change again to GSM from *#4636#*#* however no go till now - Did not knew this would happen with the provided solution otherwise wouldn't have tried it out at all.
