BTW, the latest ADB version I am aware of is 30.0.5 at the time of writing this. ADB is in the "main" bucket of scoop and can thus be easily installed/kept up-to-date on Windows with scoop (for those interested):

Ahhh - older device drivers often interfere with new ones. Uninstall the Samsung driver. Reboot the PC, then connect the N9 and it shoud install it's drivers.

Why is this still hapenning in 2021?

Google releases the ADB and Fastboot binaries separately for download. These links are much smaller than downloading the entire Android SDK/Studio.

Thanks for the Minimal ADB and Fastboot installer. I'm an Android neophyte but was able to use fastboot to get around my broken power button on an original Droid Turbo. 5 years, I guess I really can't argue, but it was a brick until I checked out XDA.

I know this package has been useful for years, and still gets used today but it's become a source of confusion for new users that assume their device is compatible with this version.
Any possible way you could update the OP to reflect the new binary downloads from google with an explanation?

Hi guys,
so I downloaded this updated version with ADB being 1.0.39 (issue command adb version), and with this I was able to get the device authorized.

But when I issue "adb reboot fastboot", the device simply reboots.

Any clues on why that is?


I am trying to flash TWRP but can't get the phone into fastboot mode with this minimal toolset.

Flashtool however recognizes the device in any state (normal, flash mode, fastboot)....

OK. So I was having trouble w the "platform tools" zip file. I would go into the file hit shift, right click and get the Powershell. Type in "adb devices" and it wouldnt recognize the comand. I installed the verrsion you supplied in your post and "voila" Im in. I shows me my device serial, reboots to recovery. How do I unlock? Im a bit lost.

You need Windows to detect your device when it's in fastboot mode. Have you installed fastboot driver for your phone in Windows?

Just did, once I updated my drivers it was smooth sailing.

Somehow, I can't seem to be able to download the Minimal Fastboot and ADB... Whenever I hover to the link, it automatically pops up an Ad making it impossible for me to click the link.
