So I picked up a moto x this morning. I updated to 4.2.2. Went home to root this sucker with the toolkit and am having issues. Drivers are installed, I choose to download and install pwnmymoto. I get a google verify potential dangerous app screen. I agree to install and the toolkit comes back as INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION. I get the same thing if i go into setting and turn off the "verify apps".

Am I screwed for now?
If you took the update you can no longer root. As of now. There is supposedly a new method in the works.

works with other carrier, to return to stock?
I have a XT1058 on Movistar carrier and i have a bootloop after the ota update released today.
To get out of the boot loop you can just boot to bootloader (Vol Down + Power) and plug your phone into the computer. Type
Code:
fastboot devices
and make sure it finds your device. Then type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
and then reboot. Only carrier currently outside of the US to return to stock is Rogers. But others could come in future updates.

If you took the update you can no longer root. As of now. There is supposedly a new method in the works.

Thanks, I have been crazy busy today, and didn't have a chance to get this answered. As soon as there is a new root method for the camera OTA, I will get the toolkit updated as well.

It is posted here as well under Original Development as well. I am in the IRC with them and working on this already. It will be interesting to see if I can get it incorporated.

Edit: No one on windows has got this working yet... N/M, stating it is working now. A guide for windows is being written.

Sorry for the noobness... Bought my wife a XT1053 off eBay to use on TMobile; however, this version I believe comes from Brazil (saw some reference in the phone in settings). I heard this version has an old firmware, etc. Can I use this to flash the TMobile (return to stock to TMobile)? Thank you for responses.

If you go to Settings>About phone then at the bottom you would see System version and Build number. Can you reply with that is listed?

I looked into this a bit and the firmware is not located here. I did find this thread that you may want to follow, as it seems they are looking for the same thing you are. It seems they tried to flash t-mobil firmware, but it failed. You would want to go there to confirm.

Which recovery is installed if you select that option? Is it the latest version of those recoveries?

Thanks in advance.
You would need to put whatever recovery.img file you would like to use in the Rocovery\Custom folder. If official builds of TWRP or CWM came out in the future, I would include them in the toolkit.

I've been trying to restore back to stock from a pwnmymoto root and safestrap 3.63a on my previous installation. My phone got stuck in a boot loop and i figured it would be a good time to return to stock, accept the OTA, and re root with the newest root.

I've been trying to use FXZ to return to stock but after I "return to stock" I still have the safestrap "recovery" and "Continue" options? How would I make sure I return to stock if I used fastboot commands? fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and fastboot flash system system.img should be all I need right?

Hi, quick question

Does your "flash back to stock" erase data? as in, will it will my sms, app data, etc?

If so, do you know of a way to unroot without erasing this?

fastboot commands you have listed are correct. Just make sure you are using the correct recovery.img and system.img

Am I able to flash back to stock with this even if I'm rooted with jcases newest method? Will it replace the root recovery with the default one?

Sent from my Moto X
Yes, you can flash back to stock, even if rooted with the newest method. It will flash back everything as if you just bought the phone. So, backup what you want saved before flashing back to stock.
