Cool it seems to work great now!

I have a couple feature/suggestion requests that might be useful for a lot of people, there are many people that don't know all of the details of their device, so I think it would be cool if there was a drop down box that would fill in the information that you have already (I don't know if you keep a log of the successful requests, you could potentially store/keep those values?)

So they would say they have a Moto Z Play from (insert region), and it would map to the correct Model Number and potentially Carrier? (better to make this a drop-down probably), then with the successful requests you have logged, populate the Software Version with a list of the OTA's for that Model/Carrier?

Another idea is for the devices that are up to date, don't show that there is an error with their request, let them know that their device is up to date only, otherwise they could get the wrong impression that the details they entered were incorrect (when they in fact were correct, just they were up to date already with no newer OTA to download!)

Folks, I live in Brazil and I have a Moto Z Play I bouht from carrier Tim. It came with the software channel set to "timbr" instead of "retbr" and hence, I'm not receiving the OTA updates in a timely manner. Actually, 2 weeks ago I still haven't received the Android 7.0 update and was when I decided to do it manually, using this GREAT tool here. This is what I currently have installed in my Moto Z Play:

Model: XT1635-02
Software version (ro.build.version.full): Blur_Version.25.36.1.addison.retail.en.US
Carrier: retbr

I used the one above to install the latest Android 7.0 update which is version number: NPN25.137-24-1 (Jan 1st 2017)

My son has a Moto G4 Plus and my wife a Moto G4 and both received a security update yesterday/today. Then I used the same Software version above (Blur_Version.25.36.1.addison.retail.en.US) to check if I'd be able to download the latest Android 7.0 March security updates, which both my Wife (Moto G4) and my son (Moto G4 Plus) received from an OTA update.

And I was able to download version Blur_Version.25.201.5.addison.retail.en.US, which contains the Android Security Updates until March 1st, 2017.

Just wanted to let you guys now that.

But we did update to Nougat, and are not on default MM (HomaTelecome) firmware anymore!

You need to go to the chinese forum to get officail help, retcn is differient from others

Retcn and telus not be supported by this tool, it only support ret(MX, APAC,BR, LA, EU) , if you want to u
pdate ,now. you can flash ret(MX, APAC,BR, LA, EU) 's ota package . It's running normal, I had tested.but if you do it will update your gpt and bootloader.

HomaTelecom has been an absolute shame in this issue. The retcn may not receive Nougat OTA soon, maybe never. I am done with Iranian phone importers.

What is your suggestion on upgrading a retcn model? Is there any clean solution to upgrade to 7.0 (or 7.1.1.)?

HomaTelecom has been an absolute shame in this issue. The retcn may not receive Nougat OTA soon, maybe never. I am done with Iranian phone importers.

Just two questions:

1. Does adb backup -all make a FULL backup with boot/oem/system partitions)?
My device is not rooted nor its bootloader is unlocked. Does running adb backup -all in this case takes a full backup?
This backup should include boot, oem, system, fsg, and modem partitions that are going to be overwritten laster by fastboot commands.
If the adb is going to backup only APKs and userdata, I am fine without that as I have everything on cloud.

2. Changing software channel
Can flashing any of these ROMs change the Software channel? If no, how is it possible?
Being on a well-supported channel is a conceptually a good thing, but I am don't know the implications of switching from retcn to reteu.
Do you even recommend doing this?


3. What is the Force Encryption?

What is UPDATE-AnyKernel2.zip and what actually happens when we flash it?

What happens if we don't disable Force encryption?

1. I've never gotten backup with adb but I don't think so
Our homatelecom phones aren't oem locked bootloader it's relock, so unlock it with this command :
fastboot flashing unlock

This won't wipe your data. Just boot(not flash) TWRP and backup everything (system, oem, ...)

2.we can't change our software channel, i know some risky ways that I've never tried. I don't know this at all

3. Moto z have encryption on data partition on stock ROM so we can't root it without removing it
Also anykernel.zip will remove dm-verify
Dm-verify : when we make some changes on system partition or mount it as r/w the phone won't boot unless we remove dm-verify

Retcn has received nougat update .you can find it in here :https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/griffin_cn/RETCN/
And in the morning,RETCN has received a May security update.
