For ZE551ML: v2.19.40.18, v2.19.40.20, v2.19.40.22 and future newer versions unless opposite mentioned.
For ZE550ML: v2.19.40.12, v2.19.40.13, v2.19.40.23 and future newer versions unless opposite mentioned.

So it does work with ZE551ML V2.20.40.58 firmware too, as it wasn't opposite mentioned till now.

Your question isn't clear. My unlock tool doesn't inject neither root nor anything else.

Works on JP Firmware

Thanks @sorg for the one click tool.
I can also unlock the bootloader for my JP version of Zenfone2 without making it to WW.
The firmware I used is JP-ASUS_Z00A-2.19.40.21 which is the latest ver of JP version.

How did you get yours to work on 2.20.40.59? Currently not getting mine to work. It either says its completed with no error message and doesnt reboot, then i have to hold the power button and boot the phone and it isnt unlocked. Not sure whats happening or whats going wrong. If you could help me out it would be great.

I just follow the instruction, my phone is root and on debug mode, just click and it's ok. My splash screen turn on white .

so will I receive ota updates once I unlock the boot loader and if I screw up my phone and take it to service centre will they notice that my boot loader is unlocked ? ....just wanted an opinion is the cm12.1 build worth flashing?

You will continue to get OTA updates with your bootloader unlocked. They will only notice if you rooted the device or if you have the white splash screen after unlocking it or if you have a custom recovery.

AFAIK, bootloader will be relocked after flashing RAW firmware via Asus Flash Tool.

1. I think someone reported that the unlock method worked on the latest OTA update.

2. We have Twrp(untethered and tethered) and CM recovery.

already rooted and unlocked and now enjoying cm12.1
