"adb out of date"

I keep getting two messages and no root:
"adb server is out of date"
"device offline"

I am sure that there is no problem with device drivers or consistency of the connection to the pc - I can add and delete files to the phone using Windows Explorer, and that window does not close during the attempted rooting process, so I know that the connection is still viable. Any suggestions? Thanks.

EDIT: I now keep getting "failed to start daemon" or "cannot connect to daemon".

EDIT2: I have googled and am now aware that this is a computer problem, and not a phone or rooting software problem.

yup when i do that i get the there was an error installin superuser. I also don't have root access at all. None of the root methods seem to be working for me i dont know why not though.

I would just wait it out my friend since MF3 your not gonna be able to Flash Custom Roms i'm a Developer For Roms came From one of my GS3

that i upgraded it to SG4 And i can't yet make a Rom for SG4 so i have to wait till someone gets Root and Custom Roms to be able to work on MF3, Besides that

the stock Rom is super fast, But once someone does get it working for MF3 you can be assure that i will be making a Deadly Venom ROM For SG4 So for now since

i have 3 other SG3 i'll keep my Deadly Venom on SG3 Thread update!:good:

+1. Once I got the unfortunate Win7 x64 problem figured out, this was by far the easiest root since I started w/Android with my Cappy in 2010.

Does this work with windows 8? I have the drivers and everything installed.

If I use the return to stock option via Odin, will it remove the custom padlock screen and return the status to official?

Hello, I just bought this phone yesterday and now I'm trying to root it. I've installed the drivers, set usb debug on and allowed unknown sources. This is what the script reads when I use this tool...
Pushing root tools...
pkg: data/local/tmp/Superuser.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS]
Rooting phone...This may take a few minutes
Failure.
Cleaning up.. blah blah blah.

I'm using the cord that came with the phone. Any suggestions?

After i do step one to root I'm getting superuser binery can not be updated, so superuser isn't working so won't let it install the recovery

You have a computer problem, not a phone problem. It's the same problem I had, running Win7 x64. If you can download the tool onto an XP machine, download Kies & install the drivers, the tool will root the phone in less than 30 seconds. I wasted almost a whole day before I googled "daemon started successfully". Moved from the Win7 laptop to the XP desktop, and everything was fine.

Noob here.. I'm new to S4 and I'm about to use this tool/method but before I do, I have some quick question:

1. Can I flash any rom once I've used this tool?
2. The full version of this tool will allow me to return to stock in case I need to return the phone??
